I overfed my betta? Will she be okay?
I over fed my female betta. I tried to put three of my girls together and it didn't work out and one got some slight ruin to her fins and the other has a chunk missing from hers from them getting into a fight inwardly the first ten minutes. Anyway, so I read that the gel frozen food stuff was the closest to their natural diet (besides live food) and that it does wonders for healing and for strength in general so I bought some. Well I guess I dropped a big chunk in in attendance and didn't notice it until later. I went over to her cistern and she was swollen and fat. She is swimming fine. But I'm feeling guilty because of my poor fish going through adjectives of this this week. I have never overfed any of my fish before and I'm unsure of what to do. Is she going to be okay? Should I fast her tomorrow? Thanks
First as far as her fin damage, use Aloe(the one for aquariums) it will help heal the betta efficient. Overfeeding can be fatal, however just watch her and you will see a difference. Instead of feed her 2-3 times tomorrow, just feed her once and see how she acts. I own noticed Betta's "tell" you when they are hungry by swimming close to the surface almost trying to get your attention, whether your betta is like this, you will know shes hungry. The bloating could be from her injury also. Anyways most likely she will be fine, and if I be you I would be more worried about her fins :) Good Luck
She should be fine. I wouldnt feed her again though until you see her little stomache shrink back to its normal size. It should be fine to nurture her tomorrow evening.
Answers: I wouldn't nurture her for a day or so, Just so she doesn't get constipated. Also, you can put some Epsom salt surrounded by her tank (NOT regular salt) or slice up one cooked pea & feed it to her and that should her her moving! :)
I was going to put two females together,... Im glad I didn't very soon...haha!
dont feed here for the subsequent 2 days
if she stays real fat nurture her a pea, she might just pass it through though.
