I muse my swordtail only go into shock?
ok i noticed this for a couple weeks now, everytime i walk into my room and look into my 10 gallon (filtered heated) reservoir he darts around really fast then calm down. he also hadnt been eating when i fed my other fish. i figure it was dropsy so i am treating the tank with Maracyn-two powder formula. but nowadays when i turned on the tank light he swam really fast and hit my masculine guppy. my guppy looked like he was dead and i muse he went into shock. but he is just fine now.
a couple minutes ago i looked into my reservoir and my swordtail darted around really fast then in recent times stopped swimming and started sinking. then he started swimming all funny but now he is ok in a minute.
what is happening to my fish?
Answers: You may have some water element problems. You may want to do some water tests and change some wet. Another problem is that swordtails really should be in at least a 29 gallon tank. How masses fish do you have in there? Also, I hope you don't own anything else as big as a sword in there! Anything bigger than an adult guppy ideally requests a bigger tank. As far as him swimming around really fast, most fish will do that if they see a sudden movement around the tank- it kinda startles them for a moment. They will do that when anything sudden happens (like turning on a light, a loud noise, sudden movement inside or external the tank, etc.) As long as he is acting normal now I wouldn't verbs about him stopping and sinking. Don't think that's really unusual as long as he resumes swimming generally the rest of the time. Hope this gives you some things that help you out. Good luck with your fish and reservoir :-)
The Ph in the water may not be good for your swordfish. Maybe that's why he's swimming rear legs and forth really fast.
If he's sinking and swimming funny, he may have a problem with his swim bladder, the organ fish hold which is filled with air. It help them to swim straight.
Good luck!
