Is medication for ich sheltered for live plants?
I have a couple java ferns in my 20 gallon, but my fish have ich, so I've be treating them for a couple days now. Even though I've been using half doses similar to it said, the medication is taking it's toll on my corys. My java ferns seem to be fine, but CAN medication kill live plants/java ferns? I have some TINY infant java ferns that I just took off of the adults, and I don't want them to die! I am using a medication called Nox-Ich, http://www.wecoaquariumproducts.com/NoxI... and I'm following the directions cooperatively.
Please help me! I really want my java ferns to be OK! If this harms them, I wanna know SOON so I can stop treatment or move them to my other tank!
I will choose best answer and any other answers will be appreciated!
Thanks!
I use this brand from walmart

Answers: Ich meds usually don't affect plants since the small treatments for the plants (that already contain copper) Your plants aren't sitting surrounded by the copper for months or years. Your plants should be fine.
Also, there is a new ich med just on the marketplace and I cannot remember the name, it is specially designed for scaleless fish (Great!) I will try to get to the LFS today and catch the name. I thought it was from Jungle Ich guard II for scaleless fish, but I really cannot remember.
I would not move your plants since the ich parasite will also be on the plants as well. You will again introduce the ich fund into the tank unless you leave the plants in a separate container for more than 21 days.
DO NOT remove babies from the tank. They could transfer any parasites as very well. if one fish is infected they all are infected. Some fish are just carrier where the ich parasite remains no the gills but doesn't outbreak on the fish.
yes.it will not harm your Living plants, but make sure you remove the carbon filter and put on a pedestal your water temp to 80 deg for the med to work..hope this helps..been at hand done that
