Is my fish going to be okay?
My dumb *** of a roommate decided that it would be a good idea to put shampoo surrounded by the fish tank. I have one oscar fish who is about 4 months of age and he is the really just friend I have here on campus. Earlier today, when I came vertebrae to my room, I saw a bunch of foam at the top of the water. I saw that he was floating on his side on the bottom of the cloudy tank. I urgently took him out and changed the water. I noticed that his color has faded, nearly white in some areas. Exams are coming up and I'm getting stressed out over everything that has happened. It's horrible. Please lend a hand me save my friend.
Put the fish in clean water and clean out the tank and everything thats inside the tank .After that you just call for to keep the tank clean and tag on a stress coat .
Good luck
Put Oscar surrounded by some dechlorinated water with absolutely no shampoo within it, to clean off any soap that might be on him. Then, after maybe 30 minutes, move him to more verbs (shampooless) dechlorinated water. Soap tends to suffocate fish by coating their gills. It also interferes with their slime coats on their skin.
He may show both acute and long-term effects from this, but whether he is still alive now he may recover. Be sure to hold on to him in clean water next to lots of aeration.
You will need to rinse you tank and everything in it tons, many times before you put fish in it again, because even a small residue of soap can be terribly harmful.
I'm sorry this happened to you. Maybe you can get a different roommate for subsequent semester.
Answers: That is very terrible word for you. You should rinse that fish thoroughly, especially around the gills with tons of water.
They breathe that stuff and the shampoo residue would return with in their gills.
I don't think you have much of a haphazard because "he was floating on his side on the bottom of the cloudy tank". This usually indicates that his equilibrium is gone and he has lost control over his swim bladder.
Sorry for your loss.
Ok what you need to do expeditious is get the fish in to other water because shampoo have chemicals in it that could kill it.Then scrub the tank down next put the fish back in and watch him/her for a few days to net sure nothing else was departed.
Just keep your poor oscar in super clean hose and maybe dose it with stress coat and melafix at 1/4 strength as a boost. It would depend on how long the fish was contained by the bad water. Make sure you thoroughly rinse everything that be in the tank and replace the filter media next to new. You may have to deal next to a mini cycle since the shampoo most likely killed off adjectives your good bacteria. You could also get some tetra protected start as that will basically instantly cycle your tank. Good luck!
Just make sure that you'll transfer your Oscar to another container with another fresh water because chemicals can harm him.
