Is my foreign Betta Fish ailing or simply getting used to his up to date domestic?

I just got a betta fish last darkness. He's in a 6 gallon tank with a few plants, gravel, a stove and a filter- he seems happy, patrolling his kingdom and eating the two pellets I gave him both morning and dark. But I tried to use the whole mirror technique where you hold up the mirror and he flares at it to stimulate him for a bit- but he just stares at it and continues patrol. Is he just a bit nervous in his bright home, and needs time to get used to it?
Yeah, basically give him some time. My fish used to do that.
If he doesn't ,make sure he see the vet or something.
Yes, like the others said, he's probably just getting used to the reservoir. And if you just bought him, he may not be mature nonetheless.

I'm glad to see you're keeping in in a large cistern with a filter and heater, other bettas wish they could be so lucky!!
