Is this cistern suitable for a Betta Fish?

I know Betta Fish breath from the surface but the guy at Pet-smart said that if I filled it an inch from the top that would be fine. Would that be ok? The "light hood" would be fine for a space heater, right? If I buy this, what else should I buy to go with it? Thanks!
Everything he said is right BUT the street lamp will NOT act as a heater, otherwise perfect reservoir! <:D
Yeah it is fine. For my eclipse 3 gallon tank the water always stays at a apposite temp. so it depends on the tank and the room but more than likely you will need a furnace. What a lot of people also forget is that a 2 gallon tank is reasonably an upgrade from the little cup that the fish was once in at the store. Some people don't hold the money/room for a large tank.
what the fish guy said
I have the 1 gal w/ nothing within it. I am going to use it for excess mystery snails until I get my pond though because mine breed like mad.
No, not really. Betta's should have 5 gallons of wet per fish, 10 is better. No, the light will not heat the tank, you own to buy a heater.
That is FANTASTIC
Answers: The two gallon is better than the one gallon. Really the more water the better but yes, it's fine for a betta. The lantern will heat the tank but only while it's on and next when you turn it off the water temperature will drop and the fluctuation contained by temps is not good for the betta. Using a small aquarium heater would be much better to keep the heat stable.
Other items you'll need to buy will be a water conditioner to remove the chlorine and cloramines from the sea, betta food, some plants for the betta to rest on, and some gravel. It's a nice set up.
