Jack dempsey cichlids?

hello,we have 2 jack dempsey cichlids in our tank, and we notice that there were eggs, placed on a rock, one of the fish was fan the eggs, now today, the eggs have gone, freshly wandering whether they have eaten the eggs,or have moved them, thank you.
yes they will munch through the eggs of their young ,to them its just food fish dont know any better
Nope the fry is prob hatch and resting together, hiding underneath rock. Jack Dempsey is a South America cichlids. So SA cichlids never eat their fry. They are excellent parents. So wait for few hours of daylight and see if fry swimming free. With parents.
Answers:    It's adjectives for cichlids to eat their first few broods of eggs.

Sometimes they dont get them fertilised correctly.

Sometimes they get stressed and forget what they should be doing.

Just consent to them try again, they should get it right after a couple of attempts

Depends on how long it was before you noticed they be gone. If you can't find any fry, then yes, they were probably eaten.
Most likely as Ian says, first attempts at breeding are failure, presuming you have a pair

The parents do move the fry though and if they own they will be guarding the spot they moved them too.
