Kissing Gourami ask?

I have 2 kissing gouramis in my 55 gal. In a recent question it be said that they are enough in the tank. How is this possible? They one and only get 6 inches, if lucky and are peaceful. Sites recommend a 30 gal. Why are empire saying different?
I've a couple of greens that are 22mths old now at 10"

I be going to put more about how people spout off surrounded by public about subjects they know nothing about adjectives because they know a little about a neon tetra. This is where deeply of fact sheets come from.
While I don't want to denigrate the pet shop industry in general, we appear to have out there chains of shops that hire and fire people who requirement a job, as a an ex soldier who's corp used to joke about here made up moto of who dares wins we don't care who win as long as the money's in the bank at the end of the month. So the turn over and the famine of proper training you end up with people next to a little knowledge and are not going to make an hard work to discover more. Which is why forums like this work well as you can always find someone next to experience who's put the effort into studying his chosen subject

Some sites may say 6", but they can actually reach 12" surrounded by good conditions.

If you keep them in a 30 gal, 6" may be adjectives they do grow to, but thats not good for various reasons.

They are also somewhat territorial and semi-agressive, so they do better near a bit of space.

Some commercial fish sites do seem to under-estimate the size that fish grow to. I have seen adjectives plecos listed on care sheets as growing to 6" and living for three years. But I have a 12" watching me type thats 6 years aged, and it's still growing strong. So thats how much notice I take of those care sheets presently.

I would think you could keep a couple more fish in that container, but make sure they are compatible with mature gourami. That means other large fish, so that limits the numbers.

Many suitable tankmates will outgrow even a 55gal.

Answers:    i assume you saw that at the petstore. they often have discouraging information aat places like petsmart etc. according to the sticker a 2' pleco is ok for a 50 gal tank...

you recieved bad information. Sadly the right information is NOT what you want to hear. They get big. If they don't die first they will easily grow 6-8". Gourami are agressive fish. The reason the yare call kissing gourami is that when they fight they grip lips and try to rip the lips rotten other fish. People think its cute and call it kissing. Its them trying to hurt each other. In a 55 i.e. large fish and very agressive. Sadly your pushing your limit on that container.
pink kissers can grow up to 12" surrounded by length. I don't know where you got six inches from but they get around twice that size. They can also be aggressive fish. I have a friend who has one in a 450 gallon and it's doubled it's size surrounded by a few months, it's about six or seven inches long now, and is one of the most aggressive fish in the reservoir. It's still young and has a lot more growing to do. 30 gallons would be the minimum container size and only until it outgrew it.
In your second question you said you had 2 kissing gouramis, a pleco (you didnt say what variety so I assumed you mean a common pleco) along with a few others. 2 Kissing gouramis in a 55 is ok, 2 kissing gouramis with the other fish you listed is pushing it and since you didnt say-so what kind of pleco you had, I said it was overstocked. Different sites and resources grant slightly different info on different species as far as fish size and minimum tank size goes but they usually stay contained by the same range, I use theaquariumwiki.com badmanstropicalfish.com and fishlore.com for the most part and they adjectives state 8-12'', and thats not including the agressivness of them, as the 1st person said

Edit: In a proper tank any fish can grow as large as they do surrounded by the wild, sites that list it as being exceptional is because people underestimate many fish and their potential size, Ive seen one site that said oscars uncommonly grow over 6-8'' in the home aquarium which is simply not true, that statement came from the reality many people buy an oscar without knowing how big it really can find and end up stunting it in a small tank
