Need minister to near space heater within 10 gallon container?

I have a 100watt heater in a 10 gallon reservoir, the heater is the self adjusting kind. It other stays at 78F. It's new and it takes 5 hours to warm up the together tank, is this normal? Also it turns of constantly, like every 10-15 minutes, and the reservoir water is cold, it doesnt even get a chance to thaw up...is this normal? thanks

Your heater is broken. When they break, they normally stay on and overheat the tank, or doesn't heat the tank close to yours. Cheap heaters aren't worth it in my opinion, not saying yours be cheap.

Answers:    100 watt is a huge heater for a 10 gal and should fry the water in no time at all. Sounds resembling you have a faulty heater. Take it support. About 30watt will do a 10 gal Btw. A heater should only turn off once the dampen is warm enough. Best of luck Angel
