Need support on regulating Amonia level...?
My amonia level is at 2.0 I did a 30% water change and put contained by one dose of amonia treatment, but it hasn't even lowered a tiny bit yet. What else can I do? My Nitrite and PH is perfect if that matter.and the tank is 2 years old so it's not cycling.
the ammonia treatment may be the problem
did you know that they don't take the ammonia out of the water, they just shift it so it doesn't poison the fish. the ammonia still shows up on tests like its still there unless you procure a special test kit that doesn't use Nessler reagent which is what most ammonia tests are base on. you have to use a kit that uses salicylate that only measures influential ammonia your tank. read this, it talks about different exam kits for ammonia http://www.algone.com/test_kits.php
if the ammonia really was 2 your fish would already be unresponsive. if you want to have your tank cycle the right opening don't use any kind of ammonia remover, just do water change and you'll be okay
Although your tank is well established it is a cycle problem.
Either there is a source of additional ammonia in the tank, uneaten food or a hidden unmoving fish
OR Something has happened to affect the filter. Media replaced, cleaned to well or the microbes affected by medication.
You have done the correct things. The ammonia treatment wont remove ammonia, it simply converts it to a less toxic form, but it still appears on the test. Water changes are a obedient emergency measure, do another 30% and it should start making a difference.
Give the tank a good verbs and check for anything nasty hidden in here, and keep doing water changes untill your filter recover.

You might be overstocked. How big is the cistern, and what do you have in it? Don't use those stupid ammonia treatments. They progress the ammonia into nontoxic ammonium, but don't get rid of it. Besides that, they can totally mess with your test gear readings.
Don't use the ammonia treatment that will not fix it in the long run it is a waste of time and money. Keep going water change till the lever are safe .25 .5 are safe for hardy fish.
Use a gravle vaccum and clean the gravle beside it. You tank might be over stocked and is going through a mini cycle. You are going to need to check your water everyday and dampen changes when ever you notice the levels are large.
Keep doing that and it will start to fix its self
Answers: Try doing another water loose change. The more water you change, the more chance your ammonia will move about down.
leave your filter pad and sponge and gravel contained by so you have your good bacteria the consume ammonia still contained by the tank and do a 90% water change. you wont own to cycle your tank b.c you already have the bacteria that your supposed to cycle for. check the plane and then continually change the water as needed.
It is a cycling problem, how do you maintain it? Are you throwing out the filter pads? are you putting in hit water into the tank and then tally chlorine remover? If so u may need to change how you maintain your cistern, if its not that it might be you need some heavy duty cleaning or draw from a bigger tank due to overstock. If you tank is overstocked the amount of bacteria required may not know how to adhere to the filter or substrate properly. If its a simple problem of not doing any gravel vacuuming i would suggest you do that immediately, whether theres enough waste that the bacteria cant even verbs up i would vacuum as much as i could every day and top off the water and clear sure the pH doesnt swing too wildly after each top bad. Theres seriously not enough info in your question to offer us a good look at the problem
