New to Ich ?
Ok, my tank had an ich or ick outbreak. and i got some medication and it is from mardel, and the given name is coppersafe. It says it treats ick, velvet and other external parasites.. Does it work? It says to use 1 teaspoon for every 4g, so i added 2 1/2 for my 10g, How regularly do i use it? I think once a day, but..it only say treats for one month. will it work?
When treating for ich, receive sure to remove the carbon from your tank. The carbon is going to filter out any impurities contained by your tank and it will see the medicine as an impurity. I have never used that product but whether for any reason it doesn't work, use Rid Ich. I have four tanks and enjoy at one point or another had ich in all of them and enjoy found Rid Ich to be the best. It is a little more expensive than some but it is a great product. Also, bump your temperature up to about 84 and append aquarium salt to your tank. The heat will support the ich crystals fall off the body. The salt will give a hand to reopen the gills of the fish. Also, do regular water changes. Again, once the ich crystals fall stale the body, doing water changes will help dilute the ich i.e. left in the water.
DO NOT add it every daylight. It contains copper, and high concentrations will burn your fish. It is stable in river, and the only way to get it out is through your regular dampen changes. Therefore, after about a month, the concentration will be low enough to supply more. In my experience, Maracide works better for acute ich outbreaks, but you can't use both at the same time, so stick with coppersafe for now. Activated carbon will not remove the copper
Answers: Yes it does work. The directions should tell you to do a 25% water change and remove any carbon filter medium on the tank. If you have catfish you need to treat near 1/2 doses not full doses. Read the directions. I think they state to treat evey second or third day for 12 or 21 days depending. I haven't have to use it for a long time so I cannot remember the exact dosage. It is on the instructions. You don't treat every day.
If it say it suitable to treat that condition I cant see why it wont work, though I seem to remember that coppersafe also damages the bacteria in your filter so you shouldn't use it for extended period or the water wont be getting its full cleaning cycle.
