The pH within my hit wet is really giant?
what are the chances the pet store I go to will be the same?
I'm getting 7.6 contained by my newly set up tank (no fish) and the tap hose down.
It's not that high. 7.0 is considered neutral. You can buy pH decreaser at Wal Mart. I would find a sample of aquarium water from the pet store and test that beforehand buying any fish. Every pet store I've been in and tested their water it have been 5.0 more or less.
You will have to adjust your hose to be very close to what the pet store has and then buy your fish. You can slowly elevate the pH in your tank if you want to near pH increaser.
Good luck!
Well, 7.6 is reasonably high, but it isn't extremely high. With this water, it would be biddable to avoid the fish that require soft, acid water, but most others could tolerate it well.
The with the sole purpose way to know the pH of the water in your pet store's tank is to ask. If the pet store staff doesn't know, I'd go to a different pet store.
thats a good ph
That's what mine is too. That's not really that high. Considering the pet store is close enough for you to drive through, they probably have equal water. After time though, the pH of water will slowly go down. I bet it's around 6.8-7.2
But remember, never put dampen from the store's tanks in your tank.
Answers: 7.6 isn't high. It is fine. If you are on the same supply sine it will be the same. If not itis complex to tell but the store would be able to tell you.
Also, it is better to hold a PH that is stable vs. one that is varying. Most fish can live healthy and happy in a general range of ph. Attempting to use chemicals to change it isn't good since it is a on a daily basis task and as soon as the chemicals hit the carbon filter they are removed.
If you want to attempt to drop the ph you can add peat or bog woods to the filter or to the tank. Careful as powerfully since some will lower the ph too low.
Just remember when you bring your fish home, float the fish for 15 minutes to acclamate to the temperature add 1/2 cup of your cistern water to the bag and float again for a minimum of 15 min. This will start the acclamation to the difference in PH. supply another 1/2 cup of your tank water to the bag...repeat 2-3 more times. release your fish.
Remember a steady ph either higher or lower is better than one that keeps moving around.
It might be duplicate, but they might treat their water just because they have animals contained by there.
That's not desperate for some fish. I'd avoid soft water fish like tetras, but hard wet fish like molly, guppy, and swordtail/platy will love it. Check out a site like liveaquaria.com for the pH ranges of common fish.
