Tropical fish disease..?
I have a tropical tank with groumies and Johannie ciclits contained by it and they have all died today:( There are tiny white bugs adjectives on the side of the tank what are they?
Answers: Firstly, the tiny white bugs are probably planaria or nematodes. Harmless to fish but only occur when there's excess spend in dribs and drabs such as over feeding or dead matter gone in the tank too long, its a sign of a dirty tank. I have them when a large snail died.
Secondly, Gourami's (what species?) and Johanni Ciclids should never have been kept together. They obligation entirely different environments and the Cichlids are too aggressive for the Gouramis.
In order to work out why they died we need a lot more info.
1. What size reservoir?
2. How long had it been set up and what equipment was running on it?
3. What be your routine weekly maintenance?
4. What are the water parameter readings?
5. What symptoms did the fish display previously they died?
Most likely Ick. I reccomend clearing the tank before buying anymore to generate sure this doesnt happen again.
