What are best dimensions for 100g cistern to house 3 voluminous, aggressive fish?
I would like to have a 100g glass container custom made. Purpose is to house 1 Picasso Trigger, 1 Green Spotted Puffer and a Powder Blue Tang with live rock for hiding places. What would the best dimensions be for the tank? Thank you.
Every fish has to be around 10 inches to be housed in such a tank approaching yours.
First you need to means up the location of the new tank and the surface area of the stand you will be putting it on. You obligation a hood, so locating and pricing the largest pre constructed would be a lot cheaper than having a custom hood made for the tank and that could effect dimensions.
Lets articulate you have a work area of 200cm by 50cm. Make the height 75cm and that's 198.19US/165.03UK gallon or 750 litres.
When you know your container base size you can adjust the height to optimise the water available to the bulk the floor can hold.
Bigger is best, so it's not so much the perfect dimensions of the tank, as the available space you have to put it surrounded by.
Answers: It's still going to be a with-caution set up that, the Green Spotted for example will only achieve more aggressive as it ages. If you do go down this route you'll need back up tank in case it all go wrong.
As for size, concentrate on depth and length over height. If you can go larger than 100g that would be advisable.
