What is wrong next to my platy?
I just got 2 fish yesterday, a molly and a platy, and when they finally got into the container. My mickey mouse (platy) was very active. Then ending night and all day nowadays, it has not been doing anything but being on the bottom of the cistern. It is eating. But I am worried that something is wrong. I noticed that today it have black dots by the tail, but they are very hard to see because it has the black mickey mouse manager design on it. I am not sure if it was on it when I bought it, but I a short time ago want to make sure. Can someone please help me, and also probably give me a link to a website that explains illnesses of fish and pictures. Thank you so very much. Please back me save my fish.
Answers: Sometimes, our system at work goes out, and all of our fish start acting funny.. floppy around at the bottom, not swimming and such. Check and make sure that your air pump is still circulating river properly and check your temp. Did you float your fish for 15 minutes in the bag in the top of the reservoir before pouring him in there? It might not be used to the temp. on the other hand. Platies like temps around 78 degrees, so if its significantly superior or lower, check it. If you think it is sick, I would take it back and achieve another fish or get your money back.
