What is your favorite freshwater shrimp?
I've had cherry and blue tiger shrimp which are pretty, but I think my favorite is the ghost shrimp because they are drastically active.
What is your favorite freshwater shrimp (and why)
Thanks
wicker shrimp, ghost shrimp, and cherry shrimp
I love the blue tigers, I have never kept them, but they look amazing!
Answers: I have a tank of cherry shrimp and I approaching them better than the original clear ghost shrimp that are their ancestors. They are colorful, hardy, easy to nurture and fun to watch. I keep duckweed in their reservoir so many of them hang upside down all daylight at the top of the water. They have lots of babies now and everybody get along great. I have tried scarlet bee shrimp but they died off after about a month. I am thinking of getting some blue berry shrimp but I don't know whether they are colored blue with dye or if they will breed true.
I put some mosquito fish outside previously in the spring in a large terracotta planter with a water lily and a few cherry shrimp must have tag along on the plants. After cleaning out the planter last week, I found one fish, two large deep red cherry shrimp and a partly dozen large water bugs. I fed the river bugs to my african cichlids and then put the cherry shrimp and last remaining mosquito fish into a small 5 gallon hospital tank until they reheat up a bit and can go into one of my other tanks.
Ghost Shrimp, they are amusing to watch, clear and cheap.
