Wild fish keep hitting wall ?
my shark ( i inch long ) is in a ten gallon tank and keeps trying to escape and after runs into the glass and doesnt eat. ive had him for 3 days sustain!
Obviously he doesn't like the reservoir he is kept in...if he doesn't get a much bigger cistern ASAP he will eventually die.
Is it a iridescent shark it looks like a shark but its actually a catfish try penetrating iridescent shark in google and see if this is the shark u have it it is the Iridescent Shark it wants to be in 100+ gallon aquarium because of the size it grows to please try to rehome the shark or return it in the store u bought from and buy a betta or some guppies or mollies
Answers: Depending on what kind of shark you have, it could be a number of things. But as someone already mentioned, 10 gallons is method too small for bala sharks (and most other sharks such as redtails). Bala sharks prefer to be in schools with other bala sharks - the more the better! But they receive big and so they aren't good for most aquariums. Bala sharks are fast swimmers and enjoy speeding along the full length of a reservoir. They can actually injury themselves by running into the walls of the tank. If you are going to keep bala sharks, you will involve a bigger tank (and one that is longer rather than taller), and a circulation pump. A circulation pump will create a current within your tank; my bala sharks love to swim against it.

10 gal is way too small for a Bala. They are fast swimmers and get extremely nervous and panicky if they are kept alone (without other balas).
They will eventually need a 6ft cistern, and should be in a 3ft one now.

Sharks need more than 10 gallons. They are nifty swimmers and need a good long tank to swim within. They also need plants and caves to hide within. Your shark is too nervous in such a small tank. Get a larger reservoir (30 gallon at least) and have plants and a cave or two for hiding. Once your shark calms down, it will devour.
