Am I too towering for this horse?

I am looking for a half loan and I've found the perfect gelding, 14.3hh cob. And he's gorgeous! But I am 5.8! Although I don't weigh much because I am tall and skinny. But I own only been talking near the owner over email and I don't know what she will think if I am too tall for him!
I am nearly 15 and have been through a growth spurt recently. But am I too towering for him already?
(I weigh 57kg)
You should be perfectly fine for him. Cobs are a short and stocky breed.
I am impossible to tell apart height and ride my daughters 14:2 cob, with no problems! I don't look too big on him at all, and he is more than gifted of carrying my weight ( which is a little more than yours!)
The owner must consider your riding ability and horse husbandry, not how elevated you are, before placing her pony with you. LOL!
Go for it ;O)
A 12hh pony can carry up 2 56 kg.
u could ride him but its better if u ride something bigger

im leasing a 16 hh Hanoverian Warmblood. and lol im onlky 5.1ft.
the expected wheight a 16hh horse can pass is 100-120 kg..

I would say your legs would be a wee bit past his stomach but your not to heavy atall! I would go for it!
Some of us like ponies better and some of us resembling horses. I have to break in some of my cousins 12.2hh ponies because I am the only being light and small enough, I also take them to their first shows. I'm 5,3.
Personally I prefer riding my cousins 19.2 Clydesdale stallion, but he of late hacks, we haven't schooled him.
Answers:    You can never be too tall for a horse, only too heavy, and the merely horse i know with a weight limit is the minis. I contemplate if you aren't planning to show him in any big shows, you will be fine. Full grown adults ride halflingers in shows adjectives the time. I sometimes ride a little halflinger and I'm almost 5-8 and i was fine. And very soon i must correct that first statement, you can't be too tall for a horse UNLESS, your feet are literally dragging on the ground. When i rode that halflinger, my stirrups be about 2 inches off the ground, i didn't care! lol JUST HAVE FUN!
no you would be fine!! your definatly not to heavy for him. and if he is a cob resembling you say then he should be fairly widespread meaning your legs wont hang right down. aslong as you feel comfy riding him you are fine!! and dont listen to anyone who say otherwise, good luck! xxx
You should be fine.
NO- you should be fine i have a 14.5hh QH gelding and a 14.4hh QH/arabian mare (both paints) and i am tall (5'10) and very skinny and ride both of them everyday. so you will be fine :o)
yeah you guys will look so out of proportion! but if you really love him..i guess you wouldn't really care
you could smoothly ride him

but you have to be aware that you might get a few 'looks' when on outings

but you should go for it presuming everything else is surrounded by order

good luck x
hey, idk if you'd look precisely right on him, but let me tell you this first. my neighbor weighs around 180, and rides a 14.1 quarter horse (well, technically, pony) and she's about 5'6. that horse carries her all over town and wager on. don't be scared to be too tall for a horse, and don't listen to others critism about a elevated person riding a shorter horse. he'll be fine, promise.
Have you tried him out yet?

You probably aren't too tall for him besides. I'm 5'3" with a 12.2 POA pony. Don't look too tall on her at all!
a bit on the larger side, but if u approaching him thats what matters.
nope your fine. It's the weight which is really the main issue and he will slickly carry you - and a friend to come with you! hee hee
you are fine i am 5 10 my horse is also 14.3 i look apposite on him my trainer is 6 2 looks a lil tall for him tho :-)
As long as you're not too filling you're fine.
No, you should be fine. You may look for a moment tall to do the hunters, but for all else you're fine. And he should have no trouble carrying you
he will be fine hes a cob what are very stocky horses and can hold alot more weight than 57kg.
Good luck!!
I devise u might b because i am 4.7 and ride a 15.00hh .
i dont think size matters look at the crankies
you are too TALL for him but NOT too BIG for him.

go and see him and see what you guess!
you'll know if he is the right/wrong one for you.
too tall.. sorry. ur taller than me but the horse is a bit taller than my pony, so id have to enunciate so!
You;re basiclly the same as me! I love riding ponies too, and don't look too big on 13.3-14.2 cobs. Its find, and presuming your rise is more of your legs than your body(if you know what I mean) than because he's a bit wider and chunkier you will look the right size for him. You are definatley not too heavy.
Sadly I would say so - he won't be a comfy ride for you. I'm 5'8" and ride a 16.2 - much more comfortable.
Do you mull over you swot to ride better next to a massively strict instructor or a terrifically tolerant one?   Wrinkles or no wrinkles?   Fungus on horses sound out?   Where Can I Get Cobs For Sale ?
