Bit individual pulled through a horses mouth?
I know this is really only an issue when starting a horse/pony but I was wanting to know could the bit be pulled through the horses mouth if you(obviously own a loose ring/eggbutt)but if you have a figure 8 or flash bridle?

My horse is particularly smart and he used to open his mouth real wide when i be turning him so that this would happen. I put on a curb chain, that didnt help much. Curb Chains are so that you can apply more pressure next to the bit by the way, similar to a flash noseband. Anyway, i bought a full cheek snaffle instead of my loose ring, and woola! problem solved. the long part on the sides of the bit prevent sliding through the mouth.
Answers: You'd enjoy to be brutal to pull the ring or eggbutt through the mouth with a flash or figure 8 contained by place.
It would be easier with a cavesson since the mouth can open wider in a cavesson. Putting a bit hobble on, which is roughly using a curb strap to attach one bit ring to the other, will stop the bit from being pulled entirely through the mouth, but it won't prevent it from being pulled partially through.
yes its very possible. even with a correctly fitting bit, horses hold ways of moving their heads that can make even light/moderate pressure pull a bit through the mouth. bit cookies are really unforced ways to stop it. its a little plastic wafer you put on the sides of the bit. great for training, but they do look kinda tacky so i wouldn't propose them for showing.
Man, you'd have to be hauling on the poor beastie's mouth resembling nobody's business to do that. I have to say that surrounded by 30+ years of working with horses, I've never known this to happen to anyone I know.
I have known people to verbs the bridle completely off, over the horse's head, in a tip out, but never pull the bit through the horse's mouth.
This can occur when you have to do a one rein stop.
Those that train horses routinely use chin straps to prevent pulling through the mouth in situations such as these.
In most western disciplines, they use a leather curb strap on the snaffle to prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth. You could also use a cavassan to keep the mouth shut.

OF COURSE! You'd have to verbs pretty hard though and I have no idea why someone would do that. It'd be best newly to get a better fitting bit.
Depends on how tight or lose the figure 8/flash is. But certain, if you yank hard satisfactory I am sure its possible. A full cheek wont get pulled through.
