..:*Bonding Tips*:..?

There is a new pony at my barn and she is very wary of humans. She doesn't resembling to be touched or having stuff put on her back like a cooler, saddle.

Do you enjoy any bonding tips?

Monty Roberts. Join-up. All you need is a round pen, a lunge line, and an understanding of horse communication.

here is a demonstration of him doing join-up

Here is a trick I have used lots and it works. On their collar just in front of the shoulder there is a triangle, the bottom of it runs up the side of the throat. Scratch that bottom column up and down and then scratch the top of the withers. If you survey horses out together this is one way they groom each other and the pony will say hey I approaching that and you are talking my language. This will give you a starting place to agree to her know you will not eat her. As far as putting things on her back start small and take little steps. Work up to the big stuff. Rub her near a small rag then when she is ok with that toss it on her posterior pull it off over and over until she is ok. Then move on to something else. If you hold to put a saddle or cooler on her before she is ok with it it will not kill her. You can work next to her as much as she needs it. Just be careful and have fun showing her that the big bird landing on her stern is not going to fly off with her.
Answers:    Bribery ALWAYS works! Take her carrots, talk in low, slow language to her and make sure that she enjoys her time near humans, brush her often and she'll come around. The more she's around folks that talk kindly to her and bring her goodies, she'll associate thoughtfulness with people.
Do you know the history on this pony? Has she been abused or newly isn't really friendly.

I would just give her some time to adjust. Spend some time just person near her and letting her come to you for attention. Let her get used to you, and then spend some time petting and brushing her.

Not adjectives horses are real friendly, but I think think most will come around next to a little positive attention. don't be in a hurry to try to make her adopt you.

Good luck
Be gentle and detached always, tell you a secret... Ginger biscuits, they love um x mine un others follow me close to lambs.
let her no that ur nice and pet her and lead her around and go walking on trail rides next to thats what i did and it sure helped
Before anyone starts to ride her you (and a couple other people) should just agree to her get to know that your not big scary predators and that the barn will not hurt her. Pet her, groom her, give her treats, and whether this goes well, you should try walking her on a lead rope around the barn so she have a chance to look around. If this works out well, you could start lunge-lining her in small sessions, and freshly sitting the saddle on her back for only a couple minutes at a time.
