Breastplate or collar?
Which would be better for eventing? Why?
i would say breastplate. i think they enjoy more control and they stay on the horse better because they clip on more than a collar would!

Breast collar. It offer the same effect as a breastplate but it has somewhat of a neck strap so you can take it if you need to, in eventing you never know whats gonna transpire so having that option is good. Some breastplates own a little strap between the two straps the buckle to the D-rings so that might be just as good but on the collar its wider and easier to seize in emergency. So I'd go with the collar, also the breastplates are harder to find near the elastic inserts and most collars have them so it allows free-er movement from for your horse. Good Luck!

Answers: I use a breastplate for eventing. It has a neck loop so that I have something to seize onto in those unforeseen situations. Also, I think that a breastplate give the horse more freedom in his shoulders than a breast collar does. Breast collars look to me like they could potentially restrict the shoulders.
It's probably really just a thing of personal preference as I see upper level riders with both.
