Bridles and Fixing tack. . . ?
Okay, don't mind me, I'm now in a doleful mood. . . I had an accident while cleaning my old bridle, for anyone who have been around horses and has their own stuff knows what it's resembling to get slightly attached to things. . .well my bridle's cheeck piece snapped, the metal part go flying, and I cussed out everyone within a 20 mile radus.
So, I was wondering previously I haul my behind to the tack store first thing tomorrow morning, is within a way to fix it if I take it to someone? I should get hold of a new bridle for the horse I'm leasing/working with, but this one belonged to my horse walter, who died a few years ago and I dont want to get rid of it.
thankz.
in good health u should kep it if it meant alot to u and its starting to get ripened and streched iw ouldnt use it again just hang it up on ur wall =]
altho if its till within good ncik go down to ur tack store or phone the maker of the bridle and ask for a cheek pice to turn with this certian one =]
I'm not sure if it can be repaired since i can't see the trash. But if you are that attached to the bridle, I would clean it and save it and acquire a new one for the next horse. Leather will eventually wear out, no matter how ably you take care of it and if it's that central to you, don't use it.
I still have the headstall from my first horse that died about 15 years ago and I don't use it on any of the horses I've got very soon.
Good luck
Answers: That little metal piece is call the governor, and no, it is not repairable. What you can do, is replace just the cheek. Dover Saddlery and Dressage Extensions sell parts only. You enjoy to kind of guess on the color match, and it won't really quite clash, but I found if I put the new one on the "off" side, I didn't notice it as much! You hold to measure the width of the leather on the cheek piece so the buckles will fit onto the crown.
Good Luck. I have the bridle from my first "good" horse (it's 25 years old). It have two new cheeks, and some of the crown has been ripped. The cheeks are a game each other but not the crown or the cavesson. I've had people comment on how good-looking my bridle is being two tone!
well that happen to my trainer's really expensive bridle because he took off when i was taking is bridle off and the reins be still around his neck. and if you want you can get a unsullied cheek piece. but i don't think it is fixable other wise but good luck and best wishes for riding and everything.
i hate when that happens, this happened to one of my favorite bridles once but i know a saddle author who could fix it for me, (he sewed it) do you know any that are around you're area? or if you know the company that you're friend got it from and relate them the situation and see if they could fix it, or if any saddlery company could fix it. (yes it can be fixed)- or you could even get a different cheek peice if you wanted to
ask around you local tack and feed stores they should know people contained by your arena that fix tack and get their numbers, then you can call and attain a quote and see if they think they can fix it
