Buying a horse near bone spavin?

Bought a horse 3 weeks ago, 14 ear old mare that passed a 5 stage vetting.

Phoned previous owners on passport as bought from dealer to find horse be lame most of this summer with bone spavin in hocks.

I'm very worried more or less long term soundness of the mare have been offered to convey her back with a refund but brilliant mare and would love to keep her, but worried about soundness issues in adjectives.

Any advice would be great, thanks.
It is really hard to tell. If you are into showing a lot of every summer consequently i would get your money back. But...If you are not doing shows really at all, but similar to to hack sometimes, then i say keep her. There is a horse at my steady who gets lame very often. I expect very often! He is a great jumper, but have hoof problems. The horses leg will soon drag and make it hard for her. Are you up for this?
My first thought when I read this be how could a horse with bone spavin have passed a 5 stage vetting? It's one thing to hold a bone lesion which may or may not turn into a spavin over time, but a bone spavin would definitely show up on xray.
Bone spavin is guaranteed lameness, and is progressive, which means it will only return with worse. I know how heart breaking it can be, but my advice is to return her and keep looking.

P.S. Depending on the circumstances, I might ask for my money back from the vet who passed her surrounded by the first place.
Answers:    horses with bone spavin entail to be kept in work, although tight turns and small circles are out of bounds, circles need to be a minimum of 20m, if you needed to affiliate in dressage its unlikely your mare would be up to it, and show jumping isnt really an option due to tight turns into the jump meaning the horse will be forced to push her hock underneath herself, x country, fun rides , beach rides, light schooling and hack are options for a horse with bone spavin.. i found this out today, i own a loan horse with a spavin, and the vet was called to determine what could and couldnt be done next to the horse, the ideal life for a horse with a spavin is street light schooling and lots of hacking
hope this helps.
also , when mine has a flexion exam he goes serverly lame in the first 10 seconds, this is due to the spavin, so im curious as to how your horse passed a 5 stage vetting, self query that also if i were you

that depends. can you still ride her? i would recommend that you would not buy a sick horse thinking you can nurse it to health. it is too risky and might be co-sty
