Calling adjectives horse individuals?

is riding saddle seat the same thing as english?

and right very soon i am taking western lessons but i am thinking about switching to english... which one do u think is better?
i really want to memorize to jump but i like barrels and poles and stuff
so do u htink i should go beside english or wester riding and why?
Well this is the deal. I was just previously within your EXACT position. I chose the wrong choice. Yes jumping is fun but not worth it. Western is more fun. English is so serious. No room to have fun.m You have to verbs about to many things. In western its more about you and the horse. Honestly, whether you are liking western do not change. DO NOT GET ME WRONG ENGLISH IS PERFECTLY FINE you just hold to be into it. Im just saying once western always western (and thats not a quote)
Riding saddle seat is not the same as riding Hunt Seat it is another form of english. If you are doing okay in western and think you are up for another challenge, next great! I think you should it just makes you an adjectives around better rider. But I would take it one step at a time. The difference between saddle seat and Hunt Seat is in saddle form you post more straighter, your shoulder to your elbow to your wrists is a 90 degree angle. The bridle that your ride is has a pelham and a bradoon also known as a double bridle and the saddle have longer strighter flaps with a flat seat and more cut back at the wither. The clothes that your wear is a suit type. So their are quite a bit of a difference between hunt seat and saddle seat but you could probably do a scrabble on the internet for more information.
English would be more fun!
Saddle seat is english

deffinetely stick with western. It is alot of fun. I love cask racing and pole bending. English is just too stuck up and they care more roughly speaking how you and the horse look rather than how well you ride. English riding is also VERY expensive one private lesson can be up to 60 dollars and I take western riding programme and I only have to pay 30 for a private lesson also whether you own a horse usually boarding at places that ride western is cheaper than places that ride english. good luck
I say aloud do both a horse has the intelligence to do both provided the rider has the skill, and usefulness to change back and forth.
I ride either contained by a flat saddle or a western saddle depending upon what it is I need to achieve this day.
After adjectives it is good riding that counts not what you wear or what you sit in.
I ride english and I feel it present a better sense of balance , but you really need to sit right and centered on the horse, Like some would say you look approaching you got a stick up your butt. ...lol * the benift it you become more balanced

But when I ride western it seems so comfortable because of the english background it like riding a sofa. you get to slouch, and only go with the flow type of thing.

I would start english and for more relaxed riding do western .
You CAN do both you know! You can jump in a western saddle, you can pole bend in an english saddle (you might get hold of laughed out of the arena though). I was jumping 45 gallon drums (on expiration - approx 4') in my western saddle just because I wanted to mix it up for a horse! You can try bareback too. You enjoy to remember that they are both just style of riding. Both have elements of fun, both require discipline and control. One is based on a more practical side of horsemanship, the other is base on the refined. (In other words the english riders think western riders are all beer drinking slobs, and the western riders devise the english have a broom stick up their butt and have no fun)

I think you should do what you want to do, it you want to chase can, then go for it, if you want to get do that too. You dont have to choose one over the other, just what you are going to do that day, or that hour... Whatever your riding agenda is like.
Personally I love English. I ride hunter/jumper and I love it, it like it because it feel like I'm in control and my horse listens to me. I consider you would might want to try a couple of lessons of English style riding and then make your choice on what you similar to better. I know a lot of people who made the switch from western to english and love english a lot better. What ever you have an idea that?
Answers:    There are basically 3 styles of English Riding:

Dressage
Huntseat (This is the one where you jump)
Saddle Seat (This is the one that shows off gaited horses as well)

Riding Western would allow you the probability at running barrels and doing pole bending. However, you also like to jump. Why not do both huntseat and western?

I've owned horses that have gone both Western and English and own done both well.
I, myself i love western, i rode english but didnt close to it.

But, if you want to try something new than do it! If you end up not tendency it you can always go back. Its great for everyone to memorize something new, and maybe you will turn out to be a really good pullover and find its your passion.

Just because someone prefers western, i say try something new. Maybe you'll resembling it better than western.

good luck!
You could still do both. Maybe try the english and decide which one you like better. If you would do both, it could pretty expensive. I individually like english because of the textbook perfection you must get and the way you look when you are riding.
Saddle seat is for gaited horses.

Jumping is a rush, but so are barrels. Big difference: english is more refined. Except for reining. Western people speak it looks like we have a stick up our butt, haha. I love jumping. So long as you don't spur that horse around the barrels or over a bounce, just choose your preference. Try them both. Jumping takes more time and is more provoking though. but it's worth it.
Who says you can't jump within western? l'm not talkin about massive great big huge jumps but l jump a few foot in a swinging fender saddle and my horse never objects. Neither does my friends horse who jumps in a stock saddle.
But, have said that, if you did want to jump higher, an English jump saddle would be best.
this is to everyone who say english is stuck up. yeah it can be but we're not all like that there are some really nice english ancestors out there. only the rich people are snobs grant or take a few. as for the dress code that only applies to bigger comps, local shows normally don't supply a s**t. i've never ridden western but i've sat on one of there saddles, i dislike intensely them there so big and clompy and heavy. jumping is the best. soz whether i went on a bit but i was just trying to capture an english persons point of view across, nearly everyone here is american.
No, it's not the same as riding english on the flat, and it's not equal as dressage or western either. You sit a lot different and need to enjoy a different type balance, even in gaits.

We can't wish what discipline you should choose. I think you should try each discipline on a lesson horse or a friend's horse first, then opt which you'd have more fun doing. I know someone who has an appendix who does both barrel race and jumping, so you might be able to find a horse who can do both.
Saddle-seat is a form of English.

I say to stick beside Western, I'm not trying to say Western is easy but I personally could never even reckon of switching, it took me a long time to get good and having to start over is a moment ago a pain.
do both!

nothing is stopping u. western is easyer i fink personaly and is soooooo confy. as for english u cn do soooo much mre its harder to do at frst but its worth it for the results.

psyche say do both. if u have ur own horse train it for both. itll be ably worth it!

go for it! and good luck! =)
powerfully i think you should go with english because it is alot more fun and you win to jump and that is my favorite part. I also have to pick between the two and i im glad i went with english. Put whatever you come up with is more fun to you
i personally similar to english better, jumping is fun!
theres more to english as in erudition horses personally me i would get a new horse when it come to switching reason being that its not putting to much on the horse at once
english riding is great you learn alot more and gain so much confident yeah u fall off a bit but who dosint u receive great muscle also and jumping is the best thing you can still do poles and barels with english approaching for fun and it would help with ur western skils to coz u learn opening mroe balance how to carry yourshelf how to control more with both hand etc u learn how to use ur weight to turn the horse to one side =] without useing much of the bit to do it for u
Do all 3. I do.

Maybe you should do both. Thats what I do. There are some advantages to English, and some advantages to Western. But alot of people on here will say English, or Western. But do what you want! Good Luck!
