Can english girls be Cowgirls?

When you picture a cowgirl, you see the cowgirl hat, the western boots and a big belt buckle. The "southern" girl. But can an english girl be a cowgirl. In music video's bout cowgirls they are always western. Maybe i just conjecture this cause when i was in western(3 years) didnt love it) It seem like western and english are to completly different worlds. I ride both english and western but when i go to the rodeo w/ the "cowgirl" outfit on and people find out i ride both eng.& west. they are kinda shocked. I dont deliberate english can be a true southern cowgirl.. Im from southern U.s...
don't you know anything about english? my mom is a 'world-level' dressage instructor and she never has other family saddle her horses unless she is showing multiple horses then she has a groom. and the only time I enjoy ever had anyone saddle my drafts is when either I was childlike and way too short to reach, or sometimes if my rear legs hurts too bad to reach up so high. I get to visit a couple olympic prospects, and even they saddled their own horses at home

I enjoy met snobbier western girls than the englis girls I know

you are not a real cowgirl sorry to say. not trying to get into stereotypes, but it is true. the function you dress up in belt buckles and cowboy boots dos not make you a cowgirl

you work as hard as /real/ cowgirls? bs!
I've be part of day-long rodeos, and at the end of the day... I am of late tired, not sore... just ready for sleep
I worked at a /real/ ranch for 3 days, and by the running out of each day I could barely move, and when I woke up I didn't consistency any better
I think you should try it out before saying you work only just as hard, because sorry you don't
Excuse me. I ride english and I've never had someone saddle a horse for me. Ever. And I don't even know a time when I've not gotten dirty at least a bit.

I meditate if you have to ask whether or not you're a cowgirl it kinda makes the point moot. You any are or you aren't and if you have to ask, you aren't.
I'm an English girl... we are more intense than you Western riders!
I think both outfits look super sexy... cowboy hat n cowboy boots very sexy but so are tight breeches and high-ceilinged boots!
I'm not afraid to get dirty. And I love the south, my favourite place in America! But I newly gotta say English riding is WAYYYYY better because we can do jumping and thoroughbred racing! You can't!

:P
I think you are totally wrong ANYONE can be a cowgirl whether they want to be. you don't have to ride western. I've been riding since i was 3 and I've see all shapes and sizes of horse riders. Its not what you look like its who you are as a person (or rider within this case)
Answers:    Hell yea.. i ride both western and english, i do barrel racing, and dressage. Both are equally hard. as long as you aint afraid to acquire dirty and r tough, i think u are a cowgirl...
Generally no. The whole cowgirl thing is to troop cattle right, they do that western. English is a completely different thing you could be hunter jumper but not a cowgirl. Anyways it does not matter, you should ride english whether you love english.
i ride english and get dirty everytime i ride i put my saddle on my horse by my self.
so u dont really know much around us.
I can't see why they couldn't be, but they simply aren't. They ride horses for different reasons and play different games on horses--polo for the guys, I don't think girls play polo, and ride horses to hunt, etc.
Its up to the english because you can be whatever a black man can join the white supremacy so you know do what you get the impression is right
Like... can I pen cattle in an English saddle, next to my full-seat breeches on? You bet I can. So does that make me an English cowgirl?

Not a southern one, admittedly, but more of the Canadian Prairie type.
Sure why not
No rule `6 sec 401 of the cowboys handbook
- English girls cannot be cowboys

im lying

you can be for sure
eeuuuu it so ugly...if im is her i dont resembling it
I certain hope so. If you ever become one--let me know. Heck, give a holla now baby.
I think that its a adjectives misconception that English riders have their horses saddled for them.

The only time I've even not saddle the horse I be riding or saddled a horse for someone else was because they couldn't physically do it themselves.

I think that stems from the reality that professional's on the top show circuits have grooms that care and clean their horses. you'd entail a groom too if you were riding three horses in a 20 minute time of year!

It all depends on you and what you think about populace. Stop making judgements about english riders and eventually the stereotype will change.
Sure
If you wear the cowgirl stuff and do what cowgirl's do, then you're a cowgirl no event where you're from. It's what you do not where you come from or how you ride.
Yep certain y not
Sure
yeah
I think it depends on how you define cowgirl. If a cowgirl is anyone who rides a horse surrounded by a western saddle, and wears western outfits, then lots of girls are cowgirls. But if you hold to work with cattle, and do ranch work, then not so lots qualify. And if rodeo competition is what makes a cowgirl, then a few more seize to qualify. But if you only run barrels, and don't work cattle in the rodeo competition, afterwards are you still a cowgirl? And what if you live in a big city and board your horse somewhere with someone else doing most of the "real" work..how can that be a cowgirl? It isn't comfortable to party too hard and still get up contained by the morning and put in a full day's work. I guess there are the party cowgirls and the working cowgirls? Ahhh.it get so complicated.
sure go for it
What your defining is buckle bunnies...

Cowgirls are real working girls, that work on horseback for a living..

Come to Wyoming to some of these ranches... I will show you what a cowgirl is...

Ones at your local rodeos that are dressed with fat babe boots and the ebay buckles.. aren't.

EDIT- and your generalization of english riders is far from the truth. I ride western and english.. booyah.. when do the tweenies grow up?
This is a free country be whichever u want to be,Be both if u want to be.Don`t worry about what other society say.
Stereotypical "cowgirls?" Sure you can. You apparently chose to be one.

Can an english rider go to a ranch out west and swot how to be a REAL cowgirl and do ranch work on horses? Sure, but not overnight.

Can a REAL cowgirl (aka not you) learn to excel in english disciplines? Yes, but again, not overnight.

You own a very ill view on the english world. I ride english. I saddle my own horse, I achieve dirty as hell, and I bought my horse dirt cheap. I know NOBODY who doesn't do their own work unless they are into big time showing and have NO TIME to get their own horse prepared, and when they're NOT showing, they do everything themselves.

Although I shouldn't let it bother me, because going near your view on things, you're just a stupid hillbilly next to eight missing teeth and armpit hair, right?

Sounds like you're only ignorant and caught up in stereotypes... approaching most preteens are.
FWIW, "cowboy" or "cowgirl" can also be an attitude.

I have been riding western for more than 35 years. I enjoy done the barrel racing, team pen, team roping and gymkhana. I've had good friends that competed within rodeo at world championship levels. I have my own little trophy defence with buckles I've won. Nowadays I pretty much prefer to go for a leisurely trail ride although I do get hold of the chance quite often to oblige at gathering cattle and brandings.

I listen to country music and love western movies. I've got four quarter horses and my husband likes to squad rope. I drive a truck and haul a stock trailer.

And you know what? I don't consider myself a cowgirl. I consider myself an equestrian and I'm quite proud of it.

There are so many nation that dress the part of cowboy/cowgirl, and talk the talk. And lots of them enjoy never even been on a horse. But that is okay with me.

If you turn to a rock concert, you are going to dress like the rock n rollers. When you go to a rodeo, you want to dress like the other fan. That is okay too.

If you want to be a cowgirl...go ahead and be one.

Have fun.
I dont see why not. that's just stereotypical
Wow stereotypes!! "Cowgirl" and "cowboy" seem to be more costumes that people wear than actual definition these days, so let's take honest here for a minute... If you aren't out on a several thousand acre range, doing legit cow work, you aren't a cowpoke. Those folks wear a hat for the shade, chaps that are dirt colored and boots that forgot their productive color. The belt is to keep up the jeans. Now, rodeo outfits can be cute, but let's not pretend that a $500 kippy belt is the only thing that will hold up the Cruel girl jeans. The truth is that within EVERY horse event, there are the hard working get-ur-hands-dirty participants. and nearby are the divas that hire out the hard work. I ride hunters, play with dressage, reining, cowboy challenges, vat racing and reining- and I do all the leg work. Just because I ride in flimsy colored breeches, doesn't mean that I don't put bibs over them and muck my stall and groom my horse before I go kick a course and bring home a blue ribbon!
You need to wear clothes you resembling and worry a lot less in the region of what other people think. There is nothing you can do to affect someone else's thoughts.
Umm. lol. wow. A cowgirl. I see as a who works with and rides horses. doesnt matter is english or western. this is just what i reflect on of the situation so dont go all hay wire on me immediately. a true cowgirl has nothing to do wwith the way you dress or what style of riding you do. i devise it depends on yer attitude and your horsemanship. idk. this is a touchy subject. I ride english but did start off western. to me western isnt dangerous adequate for me. i like the danger and risk of the jumping 5'3 and terrifying combinations its just sooo exciting and you really have to have guts to do that. idk how i would own to be brave by running around barrels and poles =/ i think a cowgirl is a tough in standard. fall of a horse get back on no thing what kinda attitude. but hey. EVERYONE is going to have different opinions on this thing. i dont consider there is a wrong or right answere.

ive been riding most my life...why the hell would you only go ahead and say that english s get someone else to tack up their horse because they are afraid of getting dirty? umm. yer the one that simply said you rode western 95% of the time...so how would you know? ive never seen any english s get someone else to tack up for them. besides.s their gonnna get dirty riding besides.
Thoroughbreds...?   What would you price this saddle wipe at?   What vaccines do horses obligation per annum?   How much do you purify your hand?
