Can Friesans ans ride within the Olympics?
Of course. Any horse who can perform the particular sport to the desired rank can compete. Qualification is not breed-specific. Do you mean are they physically suitable? For which sports? Probably definitely not Jumping and Eventing!
The solely reason why a Friesan has not been see at the Olympics is because no one has been competent to get one to olympic level. If one did get to the olympics it would be within dressage and i think the highest level a Friesan have gotten is Meduim or Advanced so still a long way to go.
But i can't wait to see on within it would be great for all Friesan breeders!

yes they can if you can train them to be olympic horses. If you can take them to that level then friesians are welcome contained by the olympics.
Answers: At the moment, no friesians can not ride in the Olympics. All event in the olympics are NOT breed specific, so theoretically they could, but the friesian breed have disadvantages a) it doesn't have the jumping capabilities or build to bring in it into the higher cross-country or show jumping events b) it has knees action on toe action and a long back making it harder to preform some of the better dressage movements. I'm not saying that a friesian can't be tough the movements, I've personal train two, but dressage judges are used to and prefer the toe flinging, so it's hard to return with high percentages on friesian and you often capture comments like not enough reach(in other words too high within the knee, I want to see the toes leading the way). Which is a sham, really they are lovely animals.
P.S Jess I've trained a friesian to Intermidia, so at hand are friesians out there at the level needed for the olympic, but because they are not getting high plenty % in dressage they not among the best horse chosen to compete international, they are simply being out classed by the the many warmbloods.
