Hi!
My cousin has a gypsy cob cross clydesdale. More Gypsy surrounded by him.
He is 15hh and he jumps round 1.05 courses and jumps about 1.20 singles at domestic.
No I don't think you are asking to much if he enjoys jump but if he doesn't like it then I wouldn't.
We haven't affilate him but he could whether we wanted to but we just don't really.
I would do it!
=)
If he can jump and hit the clock he can affiliate. As long as he seems happy give it a shot...whether he thinks your asking too much he will let you know. Cobs tend to be straight shouldered sometimes though...sometimes jumping straight shouldered horses can explanation long term stress on the shoulders, so make sure you melt him up and down and rest him adequately. I love Gypsies by the way, you are so lucky!
As long as he is happy doing it he will be fine.
At the wrapping up of the day the horse will stop if he doesn't like it. I be thrown off in a jumping course once because the horse wasn't elated!
so he will certainly let you know :)
I worked on a BSJA yard for two years and in that are some interesting creatures jumping those courses. your horse would be fine... ignore the prim and proper riders with their warmbloods, the better riders started near their tough old ponies/horses they're the ones that teach you a few things.

Good Luck..
Answers:    as expected you can affiliate!
I do BSJA with my once-slaughter-bound-pony and we both love it!
I have a friend who jumps her two gypsy cobs and they hold both qualified for British Novice and Discovery already! So you see, anyone on any horse or pony can do BSJA it is about taking EVERYONE to new heights :)
Also, respectively of these horses have (currently sticking to wood) up to this point suffered no injury best of luck. Charlotte Platt I seem to remember started out on cobs!
I do not see why you cannot affiliate him. Ryan's Son, John Whittakers showjumper was a partly shire! I do not think breeding should come into it.
What do you regard of body protectors?   I am leasing a horse, I hold a trainer, but how can I bond and establish the clean relationship?   Bit comfort ?   Local Cutting Or Reining shows ?
