Does anyone on here own a Standardbred or show them?

What discipline do you ride? How good is your Stb. at it? Also I was just wondering whether anyone shows their Standardbred. If you do please tell me what you show him in. Also what place did you get, and how complicated was it to train them to do this discipline? Thanks. Oh and any tips on riding Standardbreds would be great.
i've never worked with one but they seem to be very intelligent creatures beside a generally great willpower.
good luck.
I worked for a female who bred and raced them.
She also had a retired one that she rode english would usually break the ones that werent fast ample or who retired to ride english.
I think for the most part they are used for riding english and I dont see why you couldnt use one for jumping. Some of them do enjoy a higher step to their gate. They are smart horses and I loved working with them, she said that it depended on the horse for how long it took her to train them. Some would transport a short time where the more stubborn ones would take longer.
There's an ex-racing Standardbred at my barn. I've never really ridden him, but he's get a good personality and is very sweet and prepared to work. And absolutely beautiful!
I rode 1 for about half a year and was within 4 gymkannas.
when i first rode him i hated how he paced
(most STBs do that)
but once we got use to respectively otehr i started winning 3rds, 2nds and finally 1sts.
on our last day together, we won, 1st surrounded by dressage, 1st in jumping and champion.
Answers:    I grew up with a 1/2 Standardbred mare and she was the purpose that several folks went out and bought their own Standardbred horses. Old Taj was about 16.3 hand, bay and could trot faster than she could gallop. She was born in the mid 1940's and have been broke to drive but I did show her in huntseat equitation classes and was surrounded by the ribbons on her (Especially when they asked us to drop our irons and extend the trot!).

We found out that she was unbeatable in Australian Pursuit (Trot race) and my best friend get her first ribbon on her and even did it western!

They also seem to be a VERY solid horse, she could still go on an all sunshine trail ride and be in better shape the next day than the young-looking horses I'd been working EVERY day! BTW she was 27 on her finishing all day ride.

I did get to drive her once. I get a full harness from a friend down the road but didn't have a cart, so... I turned a trash can on it's side and made the old gal heave me around the ranch one afternoon... Sure did make a racket! LOL
I Have a standardbred. I ride Western, and he's just a trail horse. Standardbreds are lately regular horses.
I enjoy an awesome STB. He doesn't pace. He's a total love and enjoys spending time with citizens.

Goes well on trail. He's good with kids. Was a dream to saddle train. First ride be a total non event. I've ridden him english, western and aussie. As long as the saddle is comfortable he doesn't care.

I haven't shown him but would love to find a 4-Her to show him. I'm sure he would do quite resourcefully. STBs are incredibly accommodating.
