HORSE PEOPLE! What should I be? Therapeutic Riding Instructor or run a shelter for retired racer TB's. ?

It depends on what appeals to you have you always be that kind of person who likes babysitting or similar to helping retired horses? it all depends i would go with liberating, the look on the parents face when their kid has a breakthrough is priceless i know from personal experience working in a medical riding center
I say therapeutic riding instructor only because I'm an instructor myself and also sister to a handicapped brother. I find it alot more rewarding helping kids and adults that have physical and mental problems do something that brings alot of joy to them. it brings you such joy to see a child who have never been on a horse before smile for the first time because they're having so much fun on that horse.
its a great passion.. I still run a speical program for handicapped students in my riding academy.

Which appeals to you more? Helping kids, or helping horses? If the you picked kids, do the therapeutic riding. If horses, retired TBs.
therapeutic is alot more work coz ur not just looking after the horses

Mix them up, you can go and get very nice retired horses and use them as therapeutic horses. :)
Answers: If you go the rescue route you better have a cast iron stomach...Two days ago i talk to a lady who surrendered her horses to my rescue, i have had a intestine ache since then, boy its hard taking something absent from someone that they truly love. If you get them from the track it may be easier on you, every horse i get from people kill me inside, i do wish i could do something for them also besides take their horses. I pick those two up today and i have to do it while she was at work so she wouldn't freak out.
We will be doing the therapy next year, i own 4 horses in training for that right now, help general public would be a wonderful job.
well what do u presume u should be its all up to u but i would choose helping retired raceing TBS becuz thts where i got my horses but whether what u like is humans or horses more then thts up to u hope it helps
Would you rather work with relations with special needs or work more directly with horses? It would depend whether you are more of a people person or a horse person.
