How do you do these dressage moves?
medium trot
rein back
medium canter
counter canter
administer and retake the reins
and also- is there any different between medium walk and free way of walking? except that free walk is on a long rein?
medium trot is lyk a normal pace of trot
rein support is when you go from a halt and go backwards normally going on for 4 strides.
Medium Canter i think is about the normal tread of canter
Counter Canter is cantering on the wrong lead.
Give and Retake the reins is i think u bestow a little on the reins and then gather them up a bit more again.
medium trot- is a 'normal' trot, it is more collected and the horse is a little slower and more underneath himself than contained by an extended trot
rein back- Its like backing up- it is from a halt and normally 3/4 steps backwards, it should be smoother and slower than what you would probably judge of backing up.
medium canter- same as a medium trot- is a 'normal' canter, it is more collected and the horse is somewhat slower and more underneath himself than in an extended canter
counter canter- cantering on the 'wrong' lead, so that whether you were going to the left, instead of being on your not here lead, the horse would be leading with his right leg (the inside leg-if you're on the rail- making it the incorrect lead)
donate and retake the reins- Straiten your arms, its used like a reward to the horse because you are loosening your reins for a stride or two
Yes! A free walk is on a long rein because in a free way of walking the horse should not be in frame. He should have his head stretched down and his legs should stretch out more so that his legs are not as underneath himself. A atmosphere walk is a collected walk with your horse contained by frame
Answers: medium trot is the trot between working and extended trot. The rhythm and tempo is like peas in a pod as working, but the horse covers more ground(longer strides)
aids: from working trot, half-halt, asking for more collection, use you seat to ask for a longer stride and allow for a slightly longer frame.
rein back from halt usually 4 steps backwards, should be straight, gentle, and in frame. The feet must be picked up and put down cleanly.
aids: from a square halt, maintain the contact next to rain and leg. ask for forward movement with your legs, but hold back on the rein. Body remains straight near a supple hip and lower back. DO NOT FORCE or PULL the horse back, this will only drill the horse to hollow out their back.
medium canter is again the pace between working and extended canter.
aids from working canter half-halt, ask for more collection, afterwards use your inside hip to ask for an extended stride, again allow for a longer frame, but don't push the horse into extended canter. Simply maintain the pace when the desired length is achieved
counter canter: is indistinguishable as normal canter expet you have to make certain the head is slightly turned to the leading leg and the horse is balanced. I generally sit quieter in the counter canter so the horse doesn't have too much to think give or take a few other than balance.
give and help yourself to the reins, is used to check that the horse is supple, not leaning and stags in frame even without a contact.
aid: it's simple straightening both arms so the horse get more rein for a stride or two. Must dressage rider also use this as a way to test and reward the horse.
difference between medium and free meander, mainly the degree of collection, impulsions and where the horse holds its stability. The free walk shows the horse can stretch over the back and shows off the horses intuitive paces, their is not really any collection, impulsions and weight comes from both the front and back. In other words the horse is longer surrounded by the frame and doesn't step under it's self as much as in medium put your foot.
*edit*And just to clarify, working trot or working canter is the "normal" working pace, when you move up to medium, you are asking the horse for a longer stride but not a full extension, approaching in extended trot or canter.
Hey!
Medium trot - Normal trot
Rein Back - slow the horse down
Medium canter - Normal canter
Counter canter - where on earth you count the strides of the horse and make changes if needed
Give and retake the reins - verbs the reins until he goes to your speed and them let him/her have their pave the way.
And theres no difference!
Good luck
