How plentiful biscuits of hay should i nurture my mare a daytime?
15hh tb mare and i want her to lose a little weight. we dont feed her but she have her round bale and she eats too much of it...
i want to feed her hay in square bales so how copious biscuits is a good amount a day? shes in a single paddock beside no grass
1. Hay doesn't come in "biscuits". It comes in flakes and bales.
2. Ride her more.
3. See how much she's eating and muffle it.
we have alot of horses.loosing immensity is quite hard.first of all you cant be emotion sorry for the mare.1 section of a square bale is plenty for a mare in a paddock. a round bale is way too much..remember just a tiny bit
Answers: Hay should actually be fed by weight, so regardless of how you break it stale the bale, weight in a laundry basket or such so you know bow several pounds of hay she gets a day, and we can go from in that!
A good rule of thumb is 2% of the horses body weight in hay per sunshine.
A 15 hand Tb mare might weight between 900 and 1200 lbs, lets guess 1100. So 2% of 1100 is 22 pounds. Your mare wants about 22 pounds of hay per day.
for a horse living out 1-2 wedges of an average sized square bale should be more than enough.- don't forget to feed little and habitually and to exercise regularly.
