How much hay is a purse of alfalfa cubes?
how much hay is a bag of alfalfa cubes
Answers: 3lbs of cubs is equal to 1 flake of hay. I soak the cubs well so they are more of a mash after hard. This type of hay is very good for elder horses that do not have a lot of teeth left as once it is mashed/well soaked it is undemanding for them to eat and gives them the nutritional value to be precise hard for them to get from regular hay as it is easier to chue and digest.
A 50 pound bag of alfalfa cubes is approximately one square bale of hay. A word of word of warning...Horses can very easily choke on hay cubes. Use with extreme word of warning. I was forced to use them during a difficult hay shortage in my area a couple of years ago and I soaked them contained by with warm water for 20 to 30 minutes and them mushed them up next to my hands before I would feed them. The horses ate the mushed up hay cubes next to no problem. I think my 25 year old mare actually prefered it that path.
