I hold a problem beside my knees and it effects my riding?
im a senior in high school and surrounded by eighth grade i hurt my knee while on the city swim team. I hold gone to the doctor and i got xrays and they say nothing is wrong. I ride horses and i travel on very long trail rides with friends. Now when i ride for long periods of time my knees will get very stiff and start to hurt. So i know i need a brace but what brand of brace should i get?
what would be best for riding horses to give me more support? is there perhaps a different kind of stirrup i should get? i ride western and rides last anywhere between 2 hrs and sometimes as much as 6 hrs
For trial riding, I have an Australian Stock saddle. I have two very discouraging knees, and I can ride forever in one of those saddles. I highly recommend them. So immensely comfortable.
I tried a professional's choice knee brace but it really didn't help. I resolved my sensitive knee problem by changing my stirrups. I bought a pair of the MDC stirrups that have 3 different locking positions and in the 45 degree position, there is no strain on the injured element of my knee. Hope that helps. The MDC's are English but there are several things available to adjust the rotation of a western stirrup.
Answers: When drum racing, I used elastic knee pad to protect myself when clipping the barrel. I also have fibromyalgia, so the pads served as support. Not certain why, but it really helped a lot having the added pressure/support.
You could present it a try? They have cheap knee pads (a) Walmart, but they are annoying to go and get used to at first.
Also, my brain is drained from studying, so I can't forget what they're called, but there is a saddle extension you can attach to your swells that helps hold you contained by better and will prevent you legs from moving as freely. Arggg. what are those things called?
I was hit by a truck and i had knee surgery, would hold been nice if the doctor operated on the right side. The trauma i go through made me not go back and get my knees that needed the surgery fixed. Im not trying to talk you out of surgery, many, many associates have had great results.
Ok riding with the desperate knee...my problem is not getting on the horse but after riding and while riding it locks up and the pain is so freaking bad you wanna die. What i did is purchase respectively and every type of brace, either they got in the mode or were uncomfortable i rather accord with the pain. Here's what i do and its really simple...Buy ace bandages 3' contained by size. Wrap one above the knee and below the knee, you do not need to cover the knees cap. I wrap right over my jeans or whatever im riding in. This is a simple fix that give you the support you need.
Western will be easier for you to ride...what i also do is pull my feet out of the stirrups once within a while and ride that way so i don't stiffen up.
