I merely started leasing a horse?
i have just started leasing a horse and i go twice a week. one of the days i run i will get a lesson but the other day im on my own. i went yesterday and i didnt really know what i should work on or how i could hang on to my horse and myself busy. do you have any suggestions?
Patterns and Trail obstacles are fun and prepare you and your horse a lot.
Just getting familiar is a good way to spend a light of day. Grooming, brushing, playing (safely!) are good activities for your other day. If you're at the point where on earth you're riding comfortably, take her/him out for a gentle and casual ride to attain the two of you bonding.
Always make sure that you are under supervision whether you're not sure what you're doing though.

I know it's hard to get hold of used to someone not instructing you on everything, but what you have to do is change your mind set. You walk from thinking what did the instructor want me to do, to what sound fun and what do I need to work on. Experiment with the horse, find boundaries, set confines, and have fun. After a long time with lessons free riding can be sort of confusing at first. But once you start breaking absent from the lessons you'll figure out what you want to achieve beside your horse.
Work on-
1. Leg yielding
2. flexing
3. do lots of circles
4. do whatever you dont in general do (for fun)
just play around with your horse... try working on what you did within the lesson. Just have fun ! there are no rules as to what you have to do beside your horse. Also try trail riding, but try not to go alone get someone to go beside you( another person at the barn ?).
Have fun :]
What are some of his problems and customs? You could work on fixing those. Also, if you do ground work with him, he will respect you more under saddle.
I did not even know that you could lease a horse, to keep you and the horse busy? Hmm, teach it to shake?
Do stuff that you already know and once you know a moment or two more how to ride take him on a trail ride and see how it goes.
Sorry I don't enjoy any suggestions.I just want to say YOU ARE THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD. I'm 40 and still dream of having a horse.
