Is it undamaging to ride within the winter?

i really want to ride my horse but it is really snowy out and i don't know if that will be safe because someone told me that you can't ride a horse in the winter because of the rime and they could hurt them self but i don't know if that is true. if i can ride later do i have to do something to my horse so he doesn't hurt himself if i can't why not?
THX:D :D :D :D :D
economically if there is no nice on the ground there is nil to worry about
Well if it's merely snow, just remember a hoof pick, because the snow has a habit of compacting below the hooves. Also try to ride in fields/places you know, as to not anciently fall into a hole or over a log lying underneath the snow. Other than that it's safe, you can even take a little canter over a snowy pen, it's great fun. You don't need special shoes or murdockes to ride in the snow, bear footed it asholly best(easier to bring back the compacted snow out off)

As for ice on roads, try to avoid it, it is slippery for the horse, but a newly shod horse does have a better coincidence at getting a grip. If you have to ride over ice keep to a slow step or if it's very slippery, dismount and carefully meander the horse over. Frozen fields or grass pasture are safe to walk on, but whether the ground is very hard, keep the trotting to a minim it is tough on the horses legs.
Answers:    I have one and the same problem... my guy needs to get his energy out and adjectives I could do yesterday was walk(so I did hill work) and I trotted slowly along a nice flat part that didn't hold snow on it- though it was hard

hopefully I can clear this up for you
from what I understand..

whether it's just snow you should be fine...but watch for ice ball forming in the hooves (particularly with shoes)

take it terrifically slow and don't do any fast work because it could be slippery which would be dangerous and the ground will be hard which will basis more concussion on their feet and legs
- also avoid making him do anything that will cause him to breathe hard- the cold air can overexploit their lungs

you wouldn't want to run in cold weather for the same reason

whether the snow has a layer of ice on it don't ride as it can cut through their legs, which is fruitless for obvious reasons
That's variety of an obvious answer. can you fall on ice? Well consequently I'm sure a 1,200 pound animal with hooves not made for gripping, can slip too. I wouldn't think that riding within some snow would be too bad, actually it would be enjoyable as long as you aren't trying to turn to fast or make the horse strain himself. but I would never ride over ice. An clear field might be good. There are special hoof boots that provide extra grip and would save snow and ice from sticking to your horses hoof after he comes in, I would look into some of those. As I said before, reliable riding through snow should be fine, just watch out for slick spots.
It's now advised but I like to find a grazing land or road that isn't too icey or snowy and just have a walk and trot up the road or enclosed space.
But no don't ride on ice, they can slip, I adivse if you put studs into there shoes it's much easier for them.
Depends...

Balls of snow get packed in their foot, and with long hair, if they sweat, it is difficult to dry them out. They after get sick. Historically people in cold climates used horses contained by cold to pull carriages and the like. And whether it died, it died, end of problem. A horse was just a method of transportation.
You can ride safely in snow; it's tons of fun.

Take these precautions:

1. Make sure you know what's lower than the snow. This is not the time to try a new trail.

2. Don't walk over frozen puddles - the ice will break and the sharp edges can slice the coronets or elsewhere.

3. Make certain the snow doesn't pack into balls in the hooves. Wet snow wil stick in the hoof and craft a big ball on the bottom. This is hard on the horses ankles and tendons. Most snow doesn't pack this way, but occasionally it does.

4. Don't ride on frozen ponds and lake.

5. Be incredibly careful on ice.

If you like winter riding, you can achieve special shoes with borium studs to grip the ice better and pads to assist prevent the snow ball problem.

Edit: Historically, horses were worth a lot of money and be an absolute necessity for many people. They care. If it died, they might die too.

Horses LLLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEE snow. Mine go racing around their fields playing, kicking it up, rolling surrounded by it. There is no reason not to get on and enjoy it near them, as long as you're reasonably cautious about it.
I ride within the winter, as long as you have borium shoes and snow ball pad and travel on the dirt road or really nice trails it doesn't matter that there is snow on the ground :)
have fun riding within the snow!
hi sissy jk haha look at the question i posted and i think u should pick Arashi or w/e for the best answer
Depends, I ride all the time in the winter because we get little snow mostly. If theres no rime on the ground and you stay at a walk or little little trot i guess you should be fine
A lot of people ride contained by the snow. I personally don't ride when it's icy out because it makes me nervous. If it's really icy, I would read aloud not to because it's easy for your horse to fall down and get injured and injure you. Have you ever see The Horse Whisperer? I used to live in Alaska and I would have the farrier put on special shoes with rime grips and snowpads.

If you have an indoor arena, by all means be in motion for it!
Well If your riding on ice or snow it could be dangerous
You can ride your horse in the winter. Know where you ride. A horse that doesn't have shoes is generally safer then one with shoes if you are going over icy spots. Take it trouble-free and know your trails. Have fun
if u simply walk u can ride
Get out and ride! Just be a little careful whether there's ice.
