Is here any style to clear a horse resembling barrels?

I have a 10 year old mare and she does not like barrels. Sometimes she will purposefully hit them no event what I do. The girl I bought her from used her for barrels but she said she wasn't a barrel horse. I thought it was just a rider problem but immediately I think I'm wrong. I don't burn her out on them I alternate between practicing and just ride her around. She is a really good cow horse and a pretty fitting pole horse but I REALLY want to run barrels. Any help would be GREAT thanks :)
If she dosen't like it consequently she doesn't like it. You should never force a horse to do something they don't enjoy. If you really want to run barrels then put on the market your mare to someone that wants a good cow horse or pole bender. It may be hard but its really best for her.
There is not a horse on the planet that wants to "run barrels". If you have observed horses in their unprocessed environment, like in the pasture, have you ever see them run aimlessly around in circles in one direction? NO, and you never will. Horses are very smart and would never readily participate in this kind of entity. Barrel racing, like all horse and animal race, is cruel. I have a neighbor who is a "barrel person" and she has paddocks full of broken down 6 year mature quarter horses that you can't even use for trail riding. Their shoulders and legs are destroyed. This horse is probably miserable. Help her and don't ask her to do this. Sounds like she has have enough already. I could never condone any animal racing. It is a human aberration, and has nought to do with the welfare of the animals. Besides that, it is just wrong.
u should always start from the ground.saunter her by them or at least lunge her by them. always work slowly ok. wen ur horse gets a lil spooked lately calm her down by talking to her softly.
Some horses just never grow to like certain things... for example, we own a horse at my barn. He's really good on the flat and listens well, but he does not fly... AT ALL... lol
he will *sometimes* jump a small crossrail, but most of the time, he refuses it or plows right through the jump. He have a really good trainer (from several people) but he just doesn't like it for anything reason... sometimes (like people x3) we just can't construct them do something that they don't want to to.

Keep trying, though! Maybe she just needs to build some confidence. Good luck!
1. You can't MAKE anyone - human or equine - like anything.
2. I really doubt that she is hitting the barrels 'conscious.' It is far more likely that she has simply never been trained not to do so. Remember that the horse have no idea what the rules are unless you tell her.
3. Try working with a trainer to see whether she can help you. Perhaps the horse will show more aptitude towards barrels with a better explanation as to what she is supposed to do. If that doesn't work, you may need a different horse whether you want to run barrels.
i hold no idea if this will work, but put some treats on it and lead her up to it on a organize at first, i don't recommend snacks with a bit in the horse's mouth
Answers:    From experience training barrel horses, don't put her on te patternn too much. Patterning a horse excessively can construct them sour and notwantt to run thepatternm What I do with my barrel horses in training is I perhaps spend about 10 minutes a day on the pattern walking them , trotting them and single loping them after they have been walking and trotting for a few weeks. The rest of the time make your time spent beneath saddle fun for her. Trail ride or do different things in the arena, roll backs and such will help go and get her hind end under her and learn your cues. If you want to work her on turning a vat don't do the pattern every time, set the patterns up in a row and work on bending and flexing them that process, work the pattern in thereversee way instead of turning to the right tub first, head for the left side first. do figure 8's...etc etc. The knob is while you wantrepetitionn you don't want to spend too much time repeating th pattern. I'd be willing to bet the girl whom you got her from probably pushed her too much on the guide and soured he ron it. Check out Ed and Martha Wright's website. They offer great advice and if you email Martha she normally responds very quickly! Good luck and just try to manufacture it fun for her.
I hate to voice it, but what I have observed over many years is that too many young-looking people who choose to run barrels will do it at any cost, and often don't want to be bothered with taking the time to properly train their horses. Your horse is clearly not a cask horse. A barrel horse is obviously thrilled the first time you take him thru the model. I bet if I ask you how many years you have put surrounded by to preparing this horse for barrels, it won't amount to years. But, as a former barrel racer, I know that my barrel horse was put through years of training, including advanced dressage near a championship trainer, before I ever asked him to perform the difficult duty of running barrels. If he had in any way indicated that he did not close to doing it, he was trained for multiple disciplines and barrels could be eliminated. My barrel horse come alive when we ran.and then could turn around and win WP without bat an eyelid. He also remained sound throughout his life of over 30 years. Broaden your horizons and find what your mare is good at, and pursue that. If that doesn't interest you, later sell her and buy yourself a barrel horse. She sounds like a great horse that the right buyer could do in good health with. Many barrel horses are a dime a dozen and still have a few angelic years before they become too crippled to do it anymore. I'm sure you can find one that is already into it.
