What are agreeable measurements for a horse stall?
Im getting a horse but have to build a stall. is 12 by 12 good?

12 x 12 is standard. I would cheer you to consider the size of your horse since it appears you have a choice. Will there be only one horse on the property? Will he be allowed to enjoy pasture turn out? Will he have to stay in the stall for long periods or will he know how to come in and out as he pleases? To me, these are all things that need to be considered. My horses are completely big so I give them double stalls that are 14 x 24 but they can be out 24/7 if they like (their stall doors are locked open). Horses should not live contained by a box. It is unnatural and makes them miserable and can lead to behavioral problems. Even whether his stall has a run and small turnout attached, it is better than being trapped in a box for natural life. Sorry for the expanded answer but since you have the opportunity to make choices, make apposite ones for your horse. Congratulations.
Answers: I don't like stalls to be any smaller than 12 x 12. Though when I build my own barn the stalls are going to be in the region of 18 x 24 as I personally hate small stalls, though this is MY opinion!!
10 X 10 and 12 X 12 are outstandingly standard. Personally, I would go with 12 X 12. Either is acceptable though for a box stall!

12x12 is standard for a horse, 10x10 for a pony. Of course, the larger the stall the better :)

yep 12 by 12 is perfect that is the most common dimensions. THe rule is horses stipulation enough room to easily and comfortably lay down. SO the bigger the horse the bigger the stall but 12x12 usually fits most horses unless they are draft or 17 hand+
