What be your first show/competition resembling?
Hey! Today I did my first ever competition, a prelim dressage test at my riding stables. I got 5th place :D Which I'm really pleased with cuz I thought I did atrociously. I was riding a horse called Champ, a 17.2hh bright bay, my rosette is green & pink :)
I be wondering if anyone can remember they're first show, like what the horse was call, where it was, what place you came, etc etc.
:) xx
Northern VA schooling show at the barn I took programme at. I was in middle school and did not own my own horse at the time. I rode a schooling horse name Mosby :)
My first show was English Saddlebreds and I rode a mare named Missy. It was a girl name Natalie, a boy named Ryan, and me all from our barn and another girl from another barn in competition.
Before appendage, Natalie told Ryan and I that she thought she would win, because she had been riding longer than him and I, and she wasn't pleased with boys riding. Which I thought later, and now, was total B.S!
Anyway, we got within the show ring, Natalie first, Ryan next, and me last, followed by the other girl and made a few rounds. I thought I did O.K and was praying I would win!
It turns out they call my number and I did win! But then they said, Wait A Minute! Then I freaked! Everyone in the entire room held their breath! It turns out my horse's show name is Wait A Minute! So I have a huge panic attack, haha, for nothing!
The show went Me next to first, Ryan with second, and Natalie with third. Which I thought be GREAT! Unfortunately, she quit soon afterwards because she wanted to persue soccer/track, and she claimed her grades were slipping.
I was 13 consequently and am 16 now, I won many shows with Missy and immediately ride a 14 yr. old gelding named Ben. I loved that show and was VERY pleased next to the turn out.
Good luck on your next show!
Ok my first show was only a couple months ago
I got mostly 5th and a 4th
I rode a horse name Hy-Ho, who is a lesson horse
It was really funny because if you have ever see western riders show, they go as slow as it gets.
Well Hy-Ho does not go slow close to that ( she's and arab and standarbred, ex endurance race horse lol)
anyway we be lapping the other horse lol!
good times good times! lol
economically i started showing at the age of 4. so can't really remember that. I used to show welsh sec A's and did pretty well and qualified for most thing. I now compete surrounded by WH and eventing which is pretty cool. I can remember taking my 14.2hh into a open WH class at a local show, won the class and the WH championship nd she turned out to be one of the top horses on the circuit but we sold her when she started winning because i had to many ponies and couldnt hold taking time off to travel up country for shows. I usualy feel sick if im at a honourably big show and riding an unpredictable young horse. or when im asked to ride an unfamiliar horse and so have one and only sat on it for the 20 mins before the class...
pensacola, fl. hunter show. equitation. i was twelve and the whole class be trainers and i got first. bay paint x tb x trakehner. his name be scotty. 16.3 [the horse in my display pic]
Eh... Well... I rode my pony. He be horrible. He was so excited and wouldn't concentrate. He then bucked and wouldnt slow down or stop.
I had fun, though.
I placed 3rd twice, and after I got a fourth, fifth, and a sixth.
My second show, I got two moment places and a reserve champion! I was amazed with that. I be on my friends appaloosa because my pony was so horrible... But Im thinking about showing him from now on. XD
It be pretty fun. It was jumping, by the way. I did a few flat classes and a few jump classes. Jumping wasnt so good... But it was fun. (: I thought I did exceptionally well for my first show and I be proud of my pony and myself.
The show was a local show. Wasnt 4-h, but it wasnt an A rated show either. XD I deduce it was unrated. His name is Justinnnn hes still my baby. The appy be Tacoma, Tuck for short. =D
I ride hunter/jumper and took a 12.2 hand shetland pony who be a white and brown pinto and was really cute. Anyway I was small for the pony at the time. I entered within a walk/trot class, a walk/trot/canter class and a going over poles classes. I was 8 at the time and I get two thrids, and a fourth. The pony was really good since sometimes he can be very stubborn. Wow very soon i'm 13 and doing 3' and winning at rated shows. lol i've come a long way.
my first show, i thought my heart be going to burst out of my chest!
.. OH!! that was only a year ago! lol, my horse(which i still own and ride and love) was a 10yr antiquated dark bay quarter horse named Lady Valentine she is 15hh.. We go to the Penn Jersey Horse Show, and i went into western pleasure and western equitation and got 3rd place in both!! i be very excited and happy!!
