What else should I do when training a mustang?

I have been desensitizing him with a beat and a lead rope, lunging him in the round-pen, walking him in circles and jump around him so he can get used to people and not spook.
I ride a mustang! lol

Maybe carry him on a lead rope close to the road to get him used to cars.
The best thing you can do is build your trust near him!

Try free lounging, and make sure you do it the correct approach.

In the above video, you can see that this man does it correctly. He uses body language that the horse understands. By getting in front of the horse's shoulder, he make it turn around or stop. by staying behind his shoulder, he keeps the horse moving.

Free lounging should NEVER be done this way. It can be confusing to the horse, and perilous, you should be moving constantly, giving them something to think about!

Now, once you get going it will pilfer a while to build the trust. If you see the horse's head lower, or they begin to chew, stop wherever you are, and turn to facade the opposite direction of where the horse is.Wait about a min. or so. If the horse walk to you, turn around and praise, your done for the day! If not, continue the free lounging. (Be vigilant not to wear them out, and if you are out for 45 min. and it still hasn't worked, end the session for the day.) Once they come into you efficiently, and you can get him to do it a few times, try walking around, see if He'll follow you.

I did this with my horse we are to the point where on earth she will follow me at a walk, if I jog she will follow at a trot, and whether I run she'll canter. She will also back up if I do.

Make sure that you do this within a CLOSED area, with no other horses in the ring. I approaching to keep a halter on my horse, as we had one once that would jump fence, but some people go without.

Good Luck!!

Keep on doing that.. maybe less jumping around.. it can upset them away from trusting people...
Get him used to tack being on and flapping around. Lunge him next to tack on too.

Hope I Helped!! =)
