What is Puissance Horse Jumping?

lol, i lately looked this up the other day! i heard someone mention it and they said it was pretty intense, so when i get home i googled it and then went on youtube for some video! Pretty much it consists of 5 rounds and in each round the jumps bring back higher. I think the record is 7-8 ft... i'm forgetting precisely, but pretty much they do extremely high jumps over walls (not real unsurprisingly, those crumble wall things... don't know how else to describe them, but they aren't real brick or anything, they just look like that). Here are some crazy youtube video of these competitions:

Puissance is the high-jump competition contained by the equestrian sport of show jumping.

The competition involves a maximum of five rounds - opening round followed by four jump-offs not against the clock. The first round consists of four to six large single obstacle including the puissance wall, the starting height of which can vary from 1.70 m (5 feet, 6 inches) to 1.80 m (5 foot nine inches) in height. For the jump-offs, in which the fence are raised for each round, there are simply two obstacles — a spread fence and the wall — although an optional practice paling is included. In the event of equality after the fifth round, riders share first prize.

The puissance wall has often become taller than 7 feet.

From the posts above it sounds pretty terrible people should really draw the line at 5' jumps or 5'6" max.
That's funny - you caught me right while I was looking at this.

It's a high jump competition, where on earth the walls can get as tall as 7 feet, which is pretty crazy.
Answers:    Puissance jumping is basically a high kick contest for horses. Fences can get quite high - some 7 foot. The highest jumper wins.
