What might the foal look approaching?

I recently purchased a solid black paint mare and, shortly after I brought her home, confirmed that she is in foal! I go back to the lady that I bought Meadow from and asked if she know that she was in foal and who the sire might be. She admitted that she 'thought' her sorrel/chestnut appy stud have gotten her. Well...apparently he did! And, I did confirm that he was the only stud on the premises so...he's the daddy.

So...let me know (after you see the pictures) what you regard as the foal could look like. Fun speculation and factual genetic possibilities all greeting. Hopefully, the following link will work.

Probably a dark roan, but it truly depends on the recessive or dominant traits both the mother and father have. The foal is getting half the chromosomes of respectively parent. Black is more dominant when breeding to another color, just as Grey is always dominant. Since he is a roan and/or appy she could be a dark appy or a creek. She could turn out totally black, but I don't think she will look more like her dad then her mother.
I cant see the pic because I am at work but I am guessing you will have an equal chance of any a chestnut, black, or bay. Genetics can be a crap shoot. For example a stud (chestnut tobiano) bred to three mares including my own. My mare (bay tobaino) had a solid chestnut, the bay mare have a bay tobiano, and the solid grey paint had a grey tobiano with tons of chrome. Our black/white stud produced a solid black when bred to the solid gray paint, a gray when bred to a grey, and a fjord tobiano when bred to a chestnut.

The foal wont necessarily looks like the sire or damn. They can go back generation as well. My colt looks like the spitting image of his imperial dam on his sires side. Have fun with your new mare and the little one when it arrives. It would own been nice for the previous owners to give you the head up that the mare might be bred.
Chances are you might end up with a roan. It might be a red roan, but if you are lucky you'll lapse up with a blue roan. They are beautiful.
Thats a great interrogate! No one will know exactly but most likley, the foal wont be like black and white. But you never do know! The foal will be beautiful and adorable!! You should repost these pictures of the Sire and Dam (so we remeber this request for information and compare the pictures) and the foal when he/she is born!!

:)
Good Luck
Tada! http://www.animalgenetics.us/CCalculator... Good luck!
I think the foal might be a kinda bay/app and may own a snip, star, corronet, or sock... whatever the foal looks like, it'll be adorable!

Just remember that appaloosa coloring is a sex-linked trait, meaning that a mare have to have two copies of a spotted or blanket pattern to show the pattern, whereas a mannish only needs one copy to show the pattern. Leopard coloring seem not to be affected by this rule.

It doesn't include the appaloosa coloring, but you can get a basic opinion of what the base color of the foal might be.
It depends on the horses. Wether one is Ee aa, or EE aa, or ee AA, the possibilities are endless.
Well it will have a leg contained by each corner with a tail at one end and a pave the way at the other.
