What should I do for a horse next to windpuffs?
One of my horses has recently developed windpuffs on his back legs, and I own talked to my vet about it and it is more of a cosmetic blemish than an unsoundness. i did my research and wastold to keep his legs well-booted, but i hold no idea what kind of boots to use! i ride english , as I am an eventer, but I have never encounter this type of problem before. Can anyone help??? All good-idea-givers get virtual cookies!!
I am an eventer too. ok ably i would use poultice after you ride. you could also try lliniment my horse has had windpuffs that do not make her lame for the longest time they merely go down slightly and i have tried everything under the sun. Good luck.
Since windpuffs are from inflammation producing excess synovial fluid within tendon sheaths or bursae, and not stocking up, the best treatments are ones that muffle inflammation, such as liniments and poultices. As for boots to help windpuffs, anything that protects the fetlocks from injury would help.
EDIT.alluring therapy has been looked at contained by several studies and so far has not been scientifically proven to be effective.
Answers: You could rime his hind legs where the windpuffs are, after every ride. And then poltice and/or just wrap his hind legs to hang on to them from swelling when he's just standing around.
Good luck :)
