What type of hay is best for a 15yr elderly TB mare?
she is a tb mare and is 15 yrs old. i feed her oat hay in the morning and mixed hay (alfalfa/foliage.) and a roomy scoop of senior oats with 2 tbs of corn oil. and some flex x united powder.
I give my 16 yr matured mare fescue and it really does the trick.
My "seniors" get fescue. . .That's what works the best for me, and they close to it. But, everyone has their own opinions! You could also ask your vet!

Answers: I have a 15 YO TB Gelding and he does really well on 2nd cutting alfafa and 1.5 scoop of COB. I also have gotten him a horse lic - he is normally a good warden, but looks great right now. He was recently into the vet and I be asked about his feed. I was at the time feed senior and the vet asked why? Well he said you get more bang for your buck and its better for weight, and he be so right. My Gelding has never looked better. I also have given 1/4 cup of corn oil within his COB with out the lic before and he does well on that too.
Good luck!
It sounds similar to what you are feeding her is more than enough though :)
