What whether I singular want to do XC?

I know that there are combined tests(SJ and D)and eventing(SJ,XC, and D), but are there any competitons restricted to cross country? I have a TWH and he can't do show jump and definitely not dressage, but he loves to gallop and jump solid objects on trails. I would like to start near beginner novice. Does anybody do strictly cross-country?

Please Help!

Thanks!
There are no competitions with only XC. Sorry. The whole point of eventing is to show the reach of your horse, from the skilled, exact movements of dressage, the endurance and accuracy of cross country and then the stamina and control to consequently do stadium at the end.

You might be interested in looking into hunter paces or fox hunts, which is technically solely 'cross country' though it's not a competition and does not go on year round- at least not in my nouns, and you ride in a group, not by yourself.

Have you ever had any dressage training for you or your horse? A TWH or any gaited horse is not a common eventing horse, but can specifically do all three parts. There's a purebred Standardbred at my barn who is an awesome eventer. She's never going to be a dressage queen, but she can definitely earn back points by going verbs on a xc field. Plus if you start dressage training, that can definitely oblige teach your horse (and you) how to maintain a good canter that will oblige in both the dressage ring AND the stadium ring. You also need a good dressage situation, or at the very least a solid working canter in establish to do a good cross country course. You can not go galloping at every single hurdle. You might be able to get away next to it with smaller jumps, but if you try that next to bigger jumps with absolutely no collection in the past the jumps, you're putting both yourself and your horse in danger.

suitable luck and definitely look into working with a dressage or eventing trainer! :)
exactly the same as me!! i LOVE xc and my pony categorically adores it, but sadly (im in the UK so im material sorry if you're in the US) you cant do just xc whether you're going to do it seriously. i have to do eventing to do the xc that i love so i have to register for BE.
however, if you newly want to do little xc competitions, then there are lots!
(this will only serve if you are in the UK and around the hertfordshire area)
there are lots such as:

Hill House Cross Country (http://www.hillhousecrosscountry.com/) -absolutely LOVELY course, frequent different jumps for ll standards

Potton Cross Country (http://www.biggleswadesaddlery.co.uk/Eve... -this is very good for beginners. next to lots of small jumps and some bigger ones too

Great Westwood (http://www.greatwestwood.co.uk/) - this is very popular and you can just nick your horse there and you dont have to compete- its just 10 for as long as you approaching (we usually go for a whole day) and you can kick whatever you like. its good to pocket your instructor there too.

and MORE! :)
like i said, this info will only minister to you if you are in the UK.
if you are within the USA then good luck! :)
hope i helped!
Answers:    There are no competitions where you do individual cross country - at least in the US. You really need the discipline of the dressage contained by your toolkit as a rider in order to be able to do cross country without risk.

Why can't your horse do show jumping? It only seems to label sense that if he can jump solid objects on trails, that he could do show jumping. If he can't kick arena obstacles that fall down when hit, what makes you guess it's a good idea to jump solid things that will not collapse when hit?

I know that the TWH population sometimes have dressage competitions with the tests modified for gaited horses. Perhaps thay might also own an event or combined test with the modified dressage. You could also contact a local show (not a recognised show) in your nouns and see if they would be willing to let you do a modified dressage experiment.

EDIT -
I heard about the modified dressage tests when reading up on the Champagne Watchout controversy on the the Walking On Ranch trellis site. Apprarently, he has gone on to to dressage and jumping and they show videos of him doing the modified dressage test on their site. http://www.walkinonranch.com/Dressage-te...

You might be able to download it from the TWH web site.

I also want to re-emphasise that you cannot jump cross country undamagingly without a good canter, so if you want to try some eventing near him, you need to work with an eventing or dressage coach. Without the engagement of a good collected canter earlier the jump, you run the risk that your horse will not be able to get his front stop up, and he could flip over the jump.
Sounds like you might wallow in fox hunting.
Yes at hand are lots of events around called hunter trials they are just xc and its loads of fun too.
