Whats the difference between area boots and dress boots?
I'm looking for some nice all riding boots, and have been finding profusely of field boots. But I want to use whatever I get to show subsequent year... So, what's the difference between field boots and dress boots and, can you wear field boots in shows??
everyone so far have made good points, but one of the biggest differences is that feild boots are short dress, boots are tall, my dress boots have lace and my feild boots have laces, but my feild boots are short, the only cause my dress boots have laces is because i like that style better
field boots hold laces and are used for hunters, jumpers or eventing. dress boots do not have lace and are used for dressage. I have shown in different disciplines have used my area boots for everything, even dressage. (I just changed my jacket and breeches depending on what i was showing (at the time i couldn't afford two pairs of nice boots)). it depends on what discipline you ride for which boots to get. whether you go to a tack shop they will be able to help you pick the right boots and fit them properly.
Field boots have laces and are used within Hunters and dress boots are used in dressage.
I'm not certain about this at all but I think that it may hold to do with one having laces and one not. I give attention to field boots have them and dress boots don't. TO honest though I'm not sure I purely remember my friend Mags saying something like that about two of her boots.
Yea I own worn mine to shows but that because I scraped a my dress boots.
Field boots have laces most of the time and dress boots don't normally.
But really they are of late the same in my opinion?!
My show boots...

Field boots enjoy LACES, dress boots do not. I have a 30 yr old pair of Dehner Field boots and a 20 yr ripened pair of Effingham dress boots.
Answers: Field boots own the laces around the ankles. Dress boots do not.
You can wear either in shows. However, whether you were doing upper level dressage, dress boots would be more appropraite.
I ride in pen boots because I like the extra ankle support provided by the lace.
Jillian is mistaken - both dress boots and field boots are tall. I belive she is confusing field boots and paddock boots. The things she call 'dress boots' are actually field boots if they are towering boots with laces.
