When is the best time to breed a mare?

Are you asking what age a mare can be first bred or when is the right time of year to breed her? Age they can be bred varies depending on what you want to do with the mare. She can be bred as hasty as 2, but I wouldn't breed her til at least 4or 5. You can breed from February right on through july or august if you want, it just depends on where on earth the mare is going to foal. If you want her to foal naturally out in a pasture or grass paddock (which in my assessment is the best way to go) you should breed her in May or June so that she'll foal in April or May. If, however, you enjoy a proper stall to keep her in (heated in the winter whether you're in a colder climate) then she can be bred as early as February for a January babe. I show a lot of halter horses and most of them are born in January or early February. But we own always had a heated foaling shed or heated barn for the mare to foal in.
In nature, they breed in behind spring or early summer, however, depending upon what you want to do with the foal, depends upon WHEN you want to breed your mare. If you're looking at showing at halter, the best bet would be to breed somewhere around February. So that your foal is born sometime in January.

IF you are looking to market your foal, you should really reconsider breeding and NOT do it. Right now the horse market is contained by the tank.

april, may or june. We did the outset or june so we could be sure that it would be nice and warm and dry by the time the foal was born. Alot of relations breed they horses quite early like feb or march past so they can get alot of training in that year. It depends on what you will be training your foal for and what the weather is like within your area. I prefer may and june myself.
YOU WANT TO BREED IN SPRING NOT WINTER,FALL OR SUMMER MOSTLY SPRING YOU CAN HAVE A HEALTHY FOAL.

For a foal to be born in spring, you should try to breed around may/june. A horse's gestation period is 11 months, so you don't want to wait too long into summer to breed.
I have to say May. She will hold her foal in the spring that way. And if you live surrounded by a cold area where it snows, than that way, you presently that she will have the foal before winter so the foal has a better fortune of survival during snowy months.
Okay, to me the best time to breed a mare is June to July so you can have a May to June baby
Answers:    This will vary depending on several factors. One the breed and intendent use of the resulting foal. TB breeders want the foals as early as possible as they start race them as 2yo. Same in the QH breed with Halter breeders and even people breeding for Futurity horses.

One aim that most foals are born in the later spring and early summer is that foals enjoy a hard time regulating their tempature so being born in the really cold weither and steam makes it very hard on them. However since most breeders who breed for hasty foals have ways to regulate this.

I personally like mine to hit the ground at the first of March. Weather is getting a bit nicer however it is still cold. My barn is double walled and insulated so that is not as big a problem. I have had costumers who breed as postponed as sept for an Aug baby. However these tend to be Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage or WB people who do not normally even start their foals until they are behind 3 or older so an early foal is not as important.

This adjectives being said as fare as the time of year to breed. There is also the age of the horse. I personally do not believe a mare should be bred until she proves she is breeding worthy in some type of channel. I prefer to prove the mare in the event in which I am breeding for. Same with the stallion I pick. I also breed next to the intent that the resulting foal will be for sale even if it may not be as things do happen and that horse wants to be marketable. At this point the best market is for foals from proven lines (preferably proven sire and dam).
since you have get the ans that you need i really couldn't resist
