Alabama's a big horse state! Not only is the weather clad most of the year, there are lots of rural areas for boarding or buying land, several state and national forests that provide wonderful riding and sometimes camping possibilities, and lots of organized shows, trail rides, every twelve months horse fairs, and similar events. Auburn University Vet School (south central part of the state) is widely identified as one of the top equine vet and teaching universities in the country, and in that are a couple of top vets in the Birmingham area agreed throughout the Southeast for their expertise. I don't know enough about costs in other areas to know how to compare that.
