2 ferret question.?
I am running off the food that the previous owners gave me, but I hear its horial food. (Marshall Ferret Diet) Witch is the best food for the best price? I was looking at food at PetSmart, and I saw one that hd 41% pretien, and 6% fiber. Is that good?
And how do I get ants from intake my ferrets poo??
Evo ferret is one of the best, but pricey. Wellness Core cat food is great, the protein formula has 50% protein and low fiber and moisture. As obligate carnivores cats and ferret have very similar nutritional desires. Its also pretty cheap compared to ferret foods.
Ferrets can eat ferret food or kitten chow that is soaring in protein. Read how much protein is in teir current food and find a kitten food with that same amount. Make certain your ferrets' litter box is far away from their sleeping area. Ferrets are naturally verbs and if their box is too dirty and close to their bed then they stop going to the bathroom... and then they'll take sick!! You can keep ants away by cleaning the box daily and putting baking soda contained by with their litter. Let me know if you have more question.
Answers: The only ferret food that I've seen at Petsmart that I would nurture my ferrets is Zupreem. It's hard to say whether the one you're looking at is good or not based on protein and fiber alone (I will say though, the fiber is a bit too illustrious, try to stick with 3% or lower, but the protein is good). Petsmart also sells 8in1 Ultimate Crunchy, which is ok, it's not the greatest, but better than Marshalls (IMO). Is buying online an option for you? If so, I'd look into EVO (feline or ferret journal, both are pretty much the same). On http://www.ferret.com a 7lb bag of Marshall's food is about the same price as a 6.6lb pack of EVO food, but the EVO is much better for your ferret. If you can't buy online, you could check some smaller chain pet shops for the EVO, they sometimes sell it. If you can't find the EVO or buy online, then I'd turn with the Zupreem. Some other good foods - Wellness CORE cat food (a bit pricey), Nature's Variety Instinct cat food (not too bad price-wise), ZiwiPeak Daily-Cat Cuisines (pricey), Wysong Archetypes (VERY pricey!).
As for the ants ingestion the poo...hmm, well first, are the ferrets inside or outside? If they're inside, next to keep the ants out of the cage/ferret poo, you're going to have to rid them from the entire house. You have to think twice though about using chemicals, especially in areas that your ferret have access to. I feed my 3 girls cat food. Currently Meow Mix wholesome goodness stuff in an ginger bag. it was $4.00 and it lasts across the world about 2-3 weeks for all of them. Clean your ferret litter daily and hold on to it away from ant prone areas. especially the cage!
