A few chinchilla question?
OK. I'm a new mommy to a 4 month old chinchilla. I want to make his enthusiasm as happy as I can, and I have a few questions.
1) I own 2 cactus skeletons in my room, Teddy Bear Cholla and Saguaro. I don't mind if they obtain chewed, but I just want to make sure he is past the worst to chew them. Both are untreated and right out of the wash, so is it safe for him to chew these?
2) I got him one of those flying saucers after looking everywhere for them. I put it surrounded by his cage and he immediately started to explore. He doesn't use it lol he will just sit on it and afterwards try to crawl up the back and end up making it spin around. lol Will he ever figure out how to use it?
3) From the first daytime I had him, he has liked to sleep surrounded by a pillowcase. lol strange as it sounds, that's just what suits him lol. Well, like chinchillas do, he chewed a hole straight through. I bought him a slack cube and now all he does is drop in and out but doesn't sleep in it. He now sleeps on one of the shelves contained by his cage and has turned really pissy. lol. Should I put another pillowcase in for him, or will he eventually amount out what the cube is for?
Answers: Get him something that he likes. We just put surrounded by some bedding material e.g. cotton scraps. For our chinchillas and let them choose where on earth to put it.
Don't forget the dust baths that they are oh so fond of.
Don't know about your cacti but we left ours wooden blocks.
