Are animals really euthanized at a pound within three days whether they are not claimed in that time?
What are the rules and regulations of euthanization at a pound?
It differs; where I live pounds can euthanize the same afternoon if the pet is owner surrendered. I believe if it is a stray or lost animal, the pound has to loaf either 1 week or 2 before euthanizing, to give the owners time to find/claim them.
Each shelter has it's own regulations on how long they can keep an animal. There are no annihilate shelters and there are shelters that are so over crowded, that an animal only has a short stay in attendance before they euthanize to make room for more. If you have a expert shelter in mind, you would need to beckon them to find out how long they keep animals.
Answers: Depends on the pound and who runs it. Some do kill the animals after 3 days, some after 2 weeks. Some will try to find the owner and others won't. Probably depends on how much time and $$ they have. Each pound or the organization at the rear the pound are who makes up the rules and regs.
Well, my dog go missing for a week, and she was found by police who found her on a highway far away from domestic and the pound kept her for a 4-5-6 days or so.
